Difference between MDM and ActiveSync:

While both MDM and ActiveSync require device passcodes, below are some notable differences which may be helpful to know when migrating from MDM to ActiveSync.

MDM ActiveSync
Remote Wipe can either wipe only University email data or can wipe the entire device. This action is taken based upon a report of a lost or stolen device and with the knowledge of the device owner. Can only perform a wipe of the entire device. This action is taken based upon a report of a lost or stolen device and with the knowledge of the device owner. A device wipe also happens when the device passcode is failed 10 times in a row.
Can manage applications installed. Cannot manage applications installed.
Allows LSUHSC personnel to access data on the phone under specific circumstances and under Chancellor direction. Does not allow access to data on the phone.
Sync LSUHSC ID password changes without intervention. Requires the password to updated manually on the phone.
Jailbroken devices not allowed. Jailbroken devices are allowed.
Touchdown is provided for Android users. Touchdown is not provided for Android users.

 

 

How do I uninstall MDM from my Apple device?

  • Open the Settings app
  • Click General
  • Click Profiles & Device Management
  • Click MDM Configuration
  • Select Remove Management
  • Click LSU Health Sciences Center CA
  • Select Delete Profile 
  • Uninstall the Zenprise (Worx Home) App
