Annual Benefits Enrollment 2014

Annual Enrollment for health, flexible spending accounts and supplemental benefits will be held October 1, 2014 to October 31, 2014 or October 1, 2014 to November 30, 2014 depending on the Health Plan selected.  Eligible employees will be able to enroll, cancel or make changes to their health and voluntary insurance plans.

To assist employees with meeting the various deadlines and completing the appropriate forms, the Human Resources Department has developed the following Decision Charts to help you navigate through the selection process:

Current OGB Health Plan Member

Action is REQUIRED for all current OGB Health Plan participants.

  • OGB Health Plans include the Blue Cross HMO, Blue Cross PPO, Blue Cross High Deductible Health Plan with HSA, and Vantage Home HMO.
  • OGB has developed a new set of plans that offer members a variety of coverage options for 2015.
  • This year, OGB health plan participants are REQUIRED to make a selection during the annual enrollment period.
  • If you are currently enrolled in an OGB health plan and do not make a selection by the end of the enrollment period you will be moved into the new OGB Pelican HRA 1000 plan and will not have a chance to change plans until the next open enrollment period.
  • The OGB Pelican HRA 1000 is a new low premium plan that offers a nationwide network and employer contribution that can offset out-of-pocket costs.

Commissioner Nichols’ Article: The changes to OGB’s health plans are a hot topic right now.  Commissioner Nichol's article in the Shreveport Times provides some context for the changes and details about how OGB has managed costs to its members as the cost of health care continues to rise.

OGB Call Center: The Office of Group Benefits Call Center will be available Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the month of October to assist with your questions.  The call center number is 1-800-272-8451.

LSU First Members

If you wish to remain in the same LSU First option, no action is required on your part during annual enrollment.  Action is only required if you want to change your health plan for the 2015 plan year (January 1, 2015 - December 31, 2015).  We encourage all employees to attend a meeting on campus (see schedule below) where we will review LSU First and the voluntary benefit plan changes for 2015.

There are several factors which employees should consider when selecting a health plan.  Network coverage, prescription benefits, out of pocket costs, and wellness programs all influence the value of the health care received.
