Authentication (Login Prompt)

To register for Text messaging and/or email alerts you must have an LSUHSC user ID. If you are on campus and are using Internet Explorer with our proxy server you will automatically be logged in to the system upon clicking either Create Account, Sign Up, or Login. Users off campus or using other browsers will first receive a prompt to login.

This system is made available to facilities owned and operated by the LSUHSC NO Academic Campus which includes each academic school, administration services, LHN and the LSUHSC Foundation. Facilities leased by the LSUHSC NO Academic Campus such as HCSD or MCLNO are not included.

Enter Information

Once on the Account Creation page, enter your mobile phone number, select the proper carrier, and agree to the terms of service by checking the box.  Make sure the phone that will receive the message is turned on and receiving a signal.  Then click 'Create Account'.

Validate your Mobile Phone

After account creation you will be sent to a page at omnilert.net to validate successful text messaging configurations.   Additionally, a text message will be sent to your phone with a validation code.  Please enter that validation code on the page and press the validate button.

Additional Mobile Phone Numbers and Email Addresses

You can now add email addresses or an additional phone number under the services tab or Logout with the logout link.  You may log back in from the Text and Email Alerts page.

Add Phone

Before adding a mobile phone, be sure that the phone is within service area and turned on.  When the services tab is enabled, under SMS (Text Messaging), add your mobile phone number under the 'Add a Mobile Phone' section.  Then select a carrier and click the 'Add' button.  You will only be able to add one additional mobile phone.

You will then be required to verify the number as was done in the 'Validate Your Mobile Phone' section.

Add Email Address

You may also add up to two emails.  Enter an email address under the 'Add an Email' and click 'Add'.  You must then check that email address for new messages and follow the instructions for validating.  You will not receive the emergency messages if you do not validate. 

Please note that it is not necessary to sign up with your LSUHSC email address, since you will already receive mass email notifications through your LSUHSC account.   Feel free to sign up with as many as two other email addresses as you wish.

Enter Information

Once on the Account Creation page, enter a non-existent phone number such as 9995551234, select any carrier listed, and agree to the terms of service by checking the box.  Click 'Create Account'.

Close Validation Window

When the validation window opens for the non-existent phone number, close the window.

Log Back In

Login from the Text and Email Alerts page.

Select the 'Services' tab.

Delete Phone Number

Under 'SMS (Text Messaging)', click the 'Delete' link to remove the non-existent phone number.

You will then be forwarded to a page to verify that you want to delete the phone number.  Click the 'Delete Mobile Phone' button.

Add Email Address

After verifying that you want to delete the phone, you are brought back to the services page where you can enter an email. 

You are allowed to enter up to two email addresses.  Enter an email address under the 'Add an Email' and click 'Add'.  You must then check that email address for new messages and follow the instructions for validating.  You will not receive the emergency messages if you do not validate.

Change Phone/Carrier and Inactivate

You can change your phone and/or carrier at any time and you can also inactivate your phone number.  You may want to inactivate the number temporarily when you go on vacation or permanently if you no longer use the number.  After inactivation, you can later reactivate the number.

Login from the Text and Email Alerts page.

Select the 'Services' tab.

Under 'SMS (Text Messaging)', click the 'Change Status' link corresponding to the mobile phone you would like to modify.

On the 'Edit Mobile Phone Status' page, do one of the following:

Inactivate (You may use this feature to temporarily turn off alerts when you go on vacation):

  • Select 'Inactive'
  • Click the 'Update Active State' button

Change Mobile Phone and/or Carrier:

  • Change the mobile phone number if needed
  • Select the proper carrier
  • Click the 'Update Phone' button

Update Status

When you are through, click the Logout link at the top right portion of the page.

Opting Out of Service

To opt-out you must login and change services to inactive for each phone number and email address you’ve added. This preserves your account and personal information but will immediately halt receipt of alert notices.  If you would like to opt-out of this service, please follow the instructions below.

Login from the Text and Email Alerts page.

Select the 'Services' tab.

Under 'SMS (Text Messaging)', click the 'Change Status' link corresponding to the mobile phone you would like to inactivate:

On the 'Edit Mobile Phone Status' page, do one of the following:

Inactivate:

  • Select 'Inactive'
  • Click the 'Update Active State' button

You will need to update the status for each phone listed.

Under 'Email', click the 'Change Status' link corresponding to the email you would like to inactivate:

On the 'Edit Email Address' page, select 'Inactivate' and click 'Update Active State':

Repeat this step for each email you would like to inactivate.

When you are through, click the Logout link at the top right portion of the page.

If you’d like your account to be deleted, please contact Information Security at security@lsuhsc.edu to request that your account be removed.

Validation

If you have created an e2Campus account but had problems during validation, this tutorial will help walk you through completing validation.  To validate, you must login, select the 'Services' tab, and try to validate for each device that is currently unvalidated.

Review your Mobile Phone and Email services.  Any Mobile Phone or Email with the status 'Validate Now' is an unvalidated service and needs validation to receive alerts.

Troubleshooting Mobile Phone Validation

SMS Text Messaging:  Check with your carrier to see if they support or you subscribe to SMS services

Carrier:  Be sure the carrier that you have chosen is the correct carrier for your mobile phone.

Power:  Be sure your phone is charged and turned on.

Signal:  Be sure you are in an area where you are receiving a signal for SMS.  Check your phone's documentation or check with your vendor.

Change mind:  If you change your mind, be sure to delete the Mobile Phone Number that you signed up with.  This will remove you from our unvalidated users list.

Validating

Select 'Validate Now' under 'SMS (Text Messaging)'.  Be sure the mobile phone that you are trying to validate is in front of you, charged, turned on, and able to receive SMS Text Messages at the present time.

A validation code will be sent to the mobile phone.  You will be sent to a webpage asking you to enter the validation code that you receive.  Please wait for the code and enter it once you receive it.  Then click the 'Validate' button.

You will be automatically logged out of e2Campus.  Click the login button and you will be sent back to the e2Campus main page.  Be sure that the mobile phone has been validated by selecting the 'Services' tab and making sure that the mobile phone's status is 'Active'.

Troubleshooting Email Validation

If you are not receiving the validation email, be sure to add e2campus@omnilert.net to your address.  Some email accounts are setup with 'whitelists' where only addresses added to your address book can send to you.

If you have changed your mind and no longer want to receive messages to the Email Address that you signed up, please delete the Email Address.  This will remove you from our list of unvalidated users.

Validating

Select 'Validate Now' under 'Email'.

A validation code will be sent to the email address.  Check your email and click on the link that you received.  Click the 'Click here to return link'.  You will then be validated.

Logout

When you are through, click the Logout link at the top right portion of the page.
