The Project Worksheet (PW 9283 Version 6) and hazard mitigation proposal (HMP) for the CSRB has cleared all of the local review queues and has moved into the $20 million queue in Washington, D.C. This is the final review and approval required before $29,346,893.00 for the project will be obligated. PW 7453 Version 5 and the associated HMP for the Medical Education Building, valued at $6,241,753.00, has moved through most of the local review queues. When it clears the insurance queue and the State queue, it will be forwarded to the $1 million queue in Washington, D.C. We have been working diligently to expedite the reviews of this package.

The contractor working on permanent repairs and mitigation at the Allied Health/Nursing Building is continuing with demolition work and has started on the permanent repairs and mitigation. Sheetrock and studs have been removed from Stairwells 2 & 3 and from the Tiger Room. Ductwork and steel was removed from the west side of the 1st Floor. The duct detectors have been removed from 1st Floor AHUs and the ceilings were removed from Rooms 2B2, 2B4 and 2B5. The plumbing in the 1st Floor restrooms was rerouted. Electrical conduit for lighting on the west side of the 1st Floor is being installed.

The permanent repair and mitigation project at the Resource Center is progressing. Restroom fixtures and tile walls were removed from the 1st Floor. A number of granite floor pavers and wall panels were removed. The studs were demolished in the Parking Office. Conduit was run between the new switchgear location and Riser B, the tap box in Room 219 and the fire pump. Copper lines for the sump pump are being run.

The site preparation has been completed at the Student Residence Hall. The contractor installed a temporary fence in the back parking lot area surrounding the construction site. Workers removed the parking lot car stops from the building site and ran temporary power to the construction site in the parking area. They removed asphalt in the parking lot to prepare for construction of the new structure that will house the critical mechanical and electrical equipment.

The next step is to drive piles to support the new elevated structure that will house critical electrical and mechanical equipment. Events related to Mardi Gras have prevented the contractor from securing the permit needed to move the pile driving equipment to the site. We anticipate that the pile driver will be onsite within the next two weeks.

The 7th Floor lab renovations in the Lions/LSU Clinic Building continue. The contractor installed hangers for the ceiling grid and patched sheetrock. The ceiling grid was installed and workers sanded the new sheetrock and primed the walls. The emergency power electrical conduit was installed in the mechanical room. Fire sprinklers were relocated in the lab area and hot water pipes are being run to the VAV boxes.

The contractor finished framing the curved storefront wall on the 8th Floor of the Lions/LSU Clinic Building and installed sheetrock around the top of the wall. They installed sheetrock in the circle part of the ceiling outside the large conference room. Door frames were installed in the large and small conference rooms. Workers taped and floated the sheetrock in the large and small conference rooms and in the reception area. They installed the ceiling grid in the Director’s office and the small conference room. Facility Services ran heating hot water pipes to the VAV boxes. The metal ductwork was installed in the large conference room.

The contractor removed the second (old) autopsy table from the MEB autopsy room. They roughed in the plumbing piping and ductwork for the second morgue table. The new autopsy table was installed and the plumbing and electrical was connected. The exhaust duct for the second autopsy table was also connected.

Crews continued installing and programming modules in the new fire alarm summary panel at the Residence Hall and shifting the new devices from the old panel to the new panel. The devices serving mezzanine and the 2nd through the 11th Floors have been shifted from the old panel to the new panel. New smoke detectors were installed on the mezzanine, the 1st through the 7th Floor of the C Tower and in the elevator shafts. The contractor completed transferring flow and tamper switches for the A and B towers to the new panel.

The contractor responsible for installing the new flashing on the front of the Residence Hall removed the window frame in apartment B34 and installed the flashing. They welded the permanent metal flashing in place in and installed new sheetrock. Workers removed the plaster wall in apartment C31.

Facility Services completed installing irrigation control valves and piping for the main irrigation lines on the field side of the horseshoe drive, in the island and on the Clinic Building side of the horseshoe. They installed the control wiring to valves around the horseshoe. Workers trenched for the new irrigation piping in front of the Administration Building and backfilled the trenches nearest the backflow preventer on the field side of the horseshoe. The station piping and sprinklers were installed on the right side of the Administration Building front steps and between the Administration Building front steps and the Clinic Building steps. Crews completed the irrigation station piping and sprinkler heads along the Clinic side of the horseshoe drive. Irrigation station piping was installed between the Clinic Building steps and Florida Avenue. Trenches were dug for irrigation stations in the center island of the horseshoe drive. They installed piping for first of two stations in the center island and buried the irrigation station piping in the center of the horseshoe island.
