The contractor working in
the Allied Health/Nursing Building completed laying
CMU block in the stairwell near the MEB loading
dock. They finished laying block in both stairwells
along the Bolivar St. side of the building and for
the restrooms along Bolivar St. They began laying
CMU block in the Tiger Room along S. Roman St. The
ceiling tile was removed from the Tiger Room and
sprinkler heads repaired. The electricians installed
conduits on the 1st Floor area across from the MEB
loading dock.
At the Resource Center,
the contractor ran conduit on the 1st Floor and into
Room 203 for future emergency lines. Crews installed
temporary walls in the bookstore and completed
chipping out the floor penetrations for the fuel
line on all floors. The temporary elevator shaft
wall is complete. Crews continue installing
electrical conduits for the emergency power.
Two 4 inch domestic cold
water lines were installed along the C-tower of the
Student Residence Hall on the Perdido Street side.
Workers installed forms and steel rebar to prepare
for pouring the twelve concrete columns that will
support the new mechanical/electrical structure.
They poured the concrete for the first 2 of the 12
columns and stripped the forms. Crews are installing
underground electrical conduit and plumbing pipes in
both utility chases.
The contractor finished
installing the new lab casework in the 7th
Floor lab in the Lions/LSU Clinic Building. Workers
continue installing countertops, connecting gas
pipes, and terminating data ports for the lab
furniture. The contractor installed the new light
fixtures in the 8th Floor main lobby area.
The contractor set the
concrete forms and poured and finished the concrete
for first section of sidewalk adjacent to the new
fence along Florida Avenue. The forms were then
removed. Crews also built the forms for the final
section of sidewalk along Florida Avenue extending
to the horseshoe drive. They poured and finished the
concrete and stripped the forms.
Work on the covered
walkway that will connect the District Energy Garage
to the Clinical Education Building continues. The
contractor brought in 4 loads of fill and removed
the handicap ramp from the side entrance to the CEB.
They began grading the lot and removed the concrete
patio along the side of the building.
A project to clear and
grade the open field between Florida Avenue and the
railroad tracks has begun. The contractor installed
the silt fence along Florida Avenue and began
clearing and grubbing the site. They have the top
layer of vegetation and soil from the site. The
contractor finished the grading work for the new
visitor parking lot. They have completed 90 percent
of the rough grading and continue to cut the final
grade contours.
Facility Services
completed installation of irrigation piping and
sprinkler stations on the Florida Avenue and parking
lot sides of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building
and connected control wires for last three sprinkler
station valves. Crews removed vegetation on the
Florida Avenue side of the School of Dentistry
Clinic Building and began grading. They completed
approximately 80 percent of vegetation removal.
Here are highlights of
work that has been accomplished during the past two
weeks.
ALLIED HEALTH/NURSING BLDG
PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor completed laying CMU block in
the stairwell near the MEB loading dock, in both
stairwells along the Bolivar St. side of the
building and for the restrooms along Bolivar St.
- They began laying CMU block in the Tiger
Room along S. Roman St.

RESOURCE CENTER PERMANENT
REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor ran conduit on the 1st Floor

- Crews installed temporary walls in the
bookstore.
- The contractor completed chipping out the
floor penetrations for the fuel line on all
floors.
- They completed construction of the temporary
elevator shaft wall.
- Crews continued installing electrical
conduits for the emergency power.
RESIDENCE HALL PERMANENT
REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor continued installing two 4
inch domestic cold water lines along the C-tower
on the Perdido Street side.
- Workers installed forms and steel rebar to
prepare for pouring the concrete columns.
- The contractor poured the concrete for the
first 2 of the 12 columns that will support the
new structure.
- The forms were stripped from the 2 concrete
columns.
- Crews are installing underground electrical
conduit and plumbing pipes in both utility
chases.
LIONS/LSU CLINIC BLDG. 7th
FLOOR LAB RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor finished installing the new
lab casework.
- The contractor continues installing
countertops, connecting gas pipes, and
terminating data ports for the lab furniture.
LIONS/LSU CLINIC BLDG 8th
FLOOR RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor installed the new light
fixtures in the main lobby area.
FENCE REPLACEMENT PROJECT:
- The contractor set the forms, poured and
finished the concrete for first section of
sidewalk adjacent to the new fence. The forms
were then removed.
- Crews set forms for the final section of
sidewalk along Florida Avenue extending to the
horseshoe.
- They poured and finished the concrete for
the remaining section of sidewalk and stripped
the forms.
CEB COVERED WALKWAY:
- The contractor brought in 4 loads of fill
and removed the handicap ramp from the side
entrance.
- They began grading the lot and removed the
concrete patio along the side of the building.
DENTAL SCHOOL FIELD
GRADING:
- The contractor installed the silt fence
along Florida Avenue and began clearing and
grubbing the site.
- They began by removing the top layer of
vegetation and soil from the site.
- The contractor continued the grading work
for the new visitor parking lot and
re-contouring the remainder of the field.
- The contractor has completed 90 percent of
the rough grading and continues cutting to the
final grade contours.
EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:
- Facility Services completed installation of
irrigation piping and sprinkler stations on the
Florida Avenue and parking lot sides of the
School of Dentistry Clinic Building.
- They connected control wires for last three
