Work on the permanent repairs and mitigation at the Allied Health/Nursing Building continues. The contractor insulated and installed studs over the windows along Gravier Street. Crews hung 3 of 16 support beams and installed 2 of the 3 structural steel columns for the new auditorium on the 2nd Floor. Three pieces of cross bracing for the auditorium structural steel were also installed. Fire alarm lines were re-routed to make way for the auditorium structural steel. Crews removed metal ductwork and a CMU wall in preparation for the next phase of steel installation.

The contractor poured the concrete shaft walls for Elevators 3 & 4 at the Resource Center and the concrete forms were removed. One of five automatic transfer switches was installed on the 2nd Floor and an electrical panel box was installed in the pump room on the 2nd Floor. Crews ran conduit from the new ATS room to the pump room on the 2nd Floor. Four shut off valves were installed in the chilled water system in preparation for the installation of the elevated equipment. Six of the eight floor penetrations have been made in the 2nd Floor pump room. Workers ran conduit from the 1st Floor emergency circuits to the 2nd Floor ATS room.

The Residence Hall contractor removed the wooden forms from the concrete structural columns. Additional underground conduit and piping was run in the utility chases and electrical conduit was run from the underground trench to the Entergy vault. Crews installed underground conduit and piping underneath the grade beam. Both utility chases were backfilled. Workers core drilled through the parking structural grade beam for plumbing piping and they ran the storm drain pipe from the plumbing utility chase underground.

The renovation project on the 8th Floor of the Lions/LSU Clinic Building continues. The contractor relocated sprinkler heads in both conference rooms. Additional conduit was run in the large conference room and the main door was installed. Workers installed the storefront door near the glass curved wall. The AV contractor installed fiber cable for the speakers, microphone and projector in the large conference room, and for the dimmer panel in the AV room. Light fixtures were installed in the Director’s office and the hallway. The project to renovate the 7th Floor lab is complete.

The contractor established the abatement containment area for the CEB covered walkway project. The asbestos abatement of the abandoned steam lines has been completed and the abatement of the active steam lines is in progress.

Facility Services completed the final grading and installed the edging around the planting beds on the Florida Avenue side of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building. They also completed the final grading on the parking lot side of the building. Shrubs were planted on the Florida Avenue side of the parking lot side of the Clinic Building. Mulch was placed on the beds and crews laid sod on the Florida Avenue side and the parking lot side of the Clinic Building. Irrigation piping was installed on the field side of the horseshoe drive at the School of Dentistry.

Here are highlights of work that has been accomplished during the past two weeks.

ALLIED HEALTH/NURSING BLDG PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:

  • One of five automatic transfer switches was installed on the 2nd Floor.
  • An electrical panel box was installed in the pump room on the 2nd Floor.
  • Crews ran conduit from the new ATS room to the pump room on the 2nd Floor.
  • The contractor installed four valves in the chilled water system in preparation for the installation of the elevated equipment.
  • Six of the eight floor penetrations have been made in the 2nd Floor pump room.
  • Workers ran conduit from the 1st Floor emergency circuits to the 2nd Floor ATS room.

RESIDENCE HALL PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:

  • The contractor removed the wooden forms from the concrete structural columns.
  • Additional underground conduit and piping was run in the utility chases.
  • Electrical conduit was run from the underground trench to the Entergy vault.
  • Crews installed underground conduit and piping underneath the grade beam.
  • The contractor back-filled both utility chases.
  • They core drilled through the parking structural grade beam for plumbing piping.
  • The contractor installed storm drain pipe from the plumbing utility chase underground.

LIONS/LSU CLINIC BLDG. 7th FLOOR LAB RENOVATIONS:

  • The contractor completed work on the various punch list items.
  • The contractor is cleaning and waxing and the floors.

LIONS/LSU CLINIC BLDG 8th FLOOR RENOVATIONS:

  • The contractor relocated sprinkler heads in both conference rooms.
  • Additional conduit was run in the large conference room.
  • The main door for the large conference room was installed.
  • Workers installed the storefront door near the glass curved wall.
  • The AV contractor installed fiber cable for the speakers, microphone and projector in the large conference room, and for the dimmer panel in the AV room.
  • Light fixtures were installed in the Director’s office and the hallway.

CEB COVERED WALKWAY:

  • The contractor established the abatement containment area.
  • The asbestos abatement of the abandoned steam lines has been completed.
  • The abatement of the active steam lines is in progress..

DENTAL SCHOOL NORTH FIELD GRADING:

  • The contractor completed hydro-seeding the north field.

EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:

  • Facility Services completed the final grading and installed edging on the Florida Avenue side of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building.
  • They completed the final grading on the parking lot side of the building.
  • Shrubs were planted on the Florida Avenue side the parking lot side of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building.
  • Crews finished the final grading and installed mulch on the Florida Avenue side and the parking lot side of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building.
  • Facility Services laid sod on the Florida Avenue side and the parking lot side of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building.
  • Irrigation piping was installed on the field side of the horseshoe drive at the School of Dentistry.
