Fire alarm cables are being pulled to the new 2nd Floor fire alarm panel. The stairwell walls in the two stairwells near South Roman Street were removed and six CMU walls five feet tall were installed in the office area on the 1st Floor. The call lights and call stations were removed from Elevators 1, 2, and 3. The contractor laid CMU block in the stairwell near the corner of the MEB loading dock and S. Roman Street. Approximately half of the granite panels were removed from the elevator lobby and the CMU block was removed from around the elevator shafts.

The new elevated structure being constructed at the rear of the Residence Hall is progressing. The concrete for the 2nd Floor slab was poured and the forms removed. Crews erected the concrete forms for the columns that will support the walls and roof and installed conduit and reinforcing steel in the forms. The concrete was poured and the forms removed from the columns. Workers started building concrete forms for the roof of the new enclosure. The trenched hole on the Bolivar Street Side was filled and compacted. Two trenches that cross the main driveway of the Residence Hall parking lot were completed. The contractor trenched an area under the basketball court near the oak tree for the plumbing piping and an area behind the basketball court for electrical conduit.

The contractor laid CMU walls and ran electrical conduit in the 1st Floor office areas of the Resource Center. The contractor completed blocking the shaft for Elevators 3 and 4 and removed the temporary shaft wall. Crews are installing the elevator pit equipment for Elevators 3 and 4. Crews began running the electrical control wires to the ATS Room. A temporary construction wall was erected in the Bookstore and the office walls are being removed. The contractor continued construction of the CMU walls in the 1st Floor office areas and in the Women’s restroom and completed laying block in the Men’s restroom. The contractor completed the 7 floor penetrations in the switchgear room and 16 of 25 conduits have been installed. Conduit was also installed in 1st Floor ceiling under the new switchgear room. Workers began fabricating chilled water bypass piping in the 2nd Floor pump room.

The renovations underway on the 8th Floor of the Lions/LSU Clinic Building continue. The new wall panels have been installed in the large conference room. Crews painted the office areas and the soffit and door in the lobby. The ductwork in the large conference room was relocated. The contractor roughed in for the light fixtures in the large conference room and installed the new light fixtures. The glass was installed in the large conference room doors. The wood floors in the Director’s Office and the small conference room were installed. Workers began installing the ceiling tiles in the large conference room.

The wood piles that will support the CEB covered walkway were delivered to the 1542 parking lot. The contractor surveyed the site to determine the locations for the wood piles. Crews have been driving the piles that will support the walkway and its cover. 10 piles remain to be driven.

The contractor completed backfilling the trenches for the new drain piping for the new patient parking lot being constructed at the Dental School. They graded the site in preparation for the installation of the underground electrical wiring. Piles for the 3 new light poles were driven and the formwork for the concrete light pole bases was constructed. They trenched for the light pole electrical service, installed the electrical service conduit and backfilled the trenches. The contractor has begun the overall site grading and continued hauling excavated material. Crews started installing the geo-textile fabric and laying limestone base material for the parking lot.
