Work on the permanent
repairs and mitigation at the Allied Health/Nursing
Building is proceeding. The contractor continued welding additional
structural steel in place for the new walkway
storefront entrance. Workers removed the
wall paper from the 2nd Floor main corridors and
they taped and floated the walls near the new
auditorium. The painters have begun work on
the 2nd Floor corridor along Gravier St. and crews
are framing up the new 2nd Floor corridor along the
MEB loading dock side. Additional network
cables for the 1st Floor offices were pulled.
The floors of 1st Floor offices were sand blasted in
preparation for applying an epoxy coating and doors
for the 1st Floor offices are being installed. The controls contractor started working on
the 1st Floor pneumatic control panels.
The contractor
finished pulling the feeders for the MDP-2 panel in
the B-Tower and the MDP-1 panel serving the Student
Residence Hall A-Tower. Both panels are now
being energized by the new switchgear. The electrical feeder for the MDP-X panel
serving the 3rd Floor of B-Tower was installed. The exterior lighting panel was relocated on
the 1st Floor. Workers made the tie-in connection for the 6
inch fire water supply line on the 1st Floor and
installed the heat tracer for the domestic water and
fire water pipe. The sump pump for the A-Tower elevator was
installed and the diesel fuel tank was installed in
the fire pump room on the 2nd level of the elevated
structure. LSUHSC Facility Services painters applied
primer to the walls of the A-Tower laundry room.
The
contractor pressure washed and cleaned the wall and
floor in the C-Tower laundry room. Crews compacted dirt in preparation for
paving the parking spaces near the transformer
vault.
The Resource Center
contractor transferred the power for the UPS to the
new switchgear. Steel columns and beams were
erected in the 2nd Floor pump room and the
contractor placed concrete bases for three pumps on
the mezzanine of the pump room.
Workers
installed vibration isolators on the heating water
pump pads. The contractor set 4 heating hot water pumps
in place on the mezzanine in the 2nd Floor pump room
and began installing the heating hot water piping. The handrails for the stairs at the generator
platform were installed and crews continued to
install ceiling grid on the 1st Floor.
The gypsum
board ceiling was removed from the housekeeping
closet on the 1st Floor and metal lockers were
installed in the restrooms.
The contractor
installed steel rebar for the elevator shaft wall
and the transformer vault wall in the basement of
the Clinical Education Building. They encased underground electrical conduits
with concrete and continued to trench next to the
existing generator. One section of the trench for the underground
electrical conduit in the lake side lot was
backfilled and workers continue trenching and
installing additional underground electrical conduit
in the lot. The storm drain line in front of the loading
dock area was re-routed. Crews continued installing electrical
conduits along the Tulane side corridors on the 5th
and 6th Floors to relocate panel EFC. Floor penetrations for electrical conduit
were cut in Rooms 730, 627, 523, and 431 and
electrical conduit was run in Rooms 730 and 627. The contractor continues installing new
heating hot water and chilled water piping in the
basement.
The next phase of the
project to upgrade the CSRB exhaust system is
underway. The contractor installed a temporary
partition in the corridor of the 1st Floor. They removed the plaster ceiling and the
steel ceiling supports in next section of the 1st
Floor corridor. Temporary ductwork was installed and crews
removed the insulation from the existing ductwork. The contractor removed the sprinkler heads
and tied-in the temporary exhaust ductwork.
The contractor responsible for the air handling unit
replacement contract at the Dental School continued
running the heating hot water riser to the VAVs near
the Gross Anatomy and Oral Pathology labs.
New ductwork was installed above the Gross Anatomy
labs and the control panels for the AHUs above Oral
Pathology and Gross Anatomy were set in place. The contractor ran re-heat lines to the VAV
boxes near the Oral Pathology labs; work on 5 of the
15 boxes is complete. Workers are insulating
the piping above the Oral Pathology and Gross
Anatomy labs and the ductwork above the Oral
Pathology lab. Conduit was installed for both
VFDs located in the penthouse.
The project to waterproof the exteriors of the
Clinic Building, the Administration Building and the
Power Plant at the Dental campus has begun. The contractor constructed partitions to
cover 2 open bays on the west and east side of the
Clinic Building and 2 open bays on the north side of
the Administration Building. This is to
prevent water from seeping under the pedestrian
walkway and to protect the granite and pedestrians
when pressure washing the exterior panels of the
building. The contractor cleaned a 20-foot section of
the Clinic Building directly above the loading dock
and a 50-foot section of the Administration Building
on the Florida Ave. side of the building. They continued pressure washing the exterior
wall (2nd bay) on the east side of the Clinic
Building and the (3th bay) north side of the
Administration Building.
Work on the energy-efficiency contract at the Dental
School continues. The contractor installed an additional 76
high-efficiency light fixtures on the 5th Floor of
the Dental School Clinic Building. They replaced 108 lights in the 3rd Floor
clinic area with new high-efficiency fixtures and
removed 9 fixtures on the 3rd Floor in preparation
for the Wet Labs project.
Improvements to the student athletic fields on the
Dental campus continue. The contractor finished fine grading the clay
for the softball infield. The irrigation subcontractor tied into the
existing water main adjacent to the Administration
Building and installed pipe on the building side and
around the parking lot end of the multipurpose
field.
Pipe and quick disconnect fittings were installed
between both fields and the right field portion of
the softball field.
A new project to
improve the lighting in the parking lots at the
Dental campus has begun. Pilings, sonitubes and light poles were
delivered to the site. The contractor dug holes and set the timber
pilings for the twenty-five (25) new light pole
bases.
They constructed reinforcing steel cages and
concrete formwork for the bases and removed all of
the old wooden light poles.
