Work continues on the
permanent repairs and mitigation measures at the
Allied Health/Nursing Building. The contractor hung drywall in Room 257 and
in the new lounge area on the 2nd Floor. They
taped and floated the drywall in the 2nd Floor
elevator lobby and painted the lobby walls. The contractor continued finishing walls
along the new 2nd Floor corridor on the MEB side of
the building. Two coats of paint were applied
to the walls. Workers constructed the fur-down for the
student area near the MEB loading dock on the 2nd
Floor and the drywall was hung.
Welders continued
installing structural steel for the new entry from
the elevated walkway. They installed
structural steel below the walkway along the Gravier
Street side of the building and welded additional
structural steel below the walkway along the MEB
loading dock side of the building. The
contractor is installing four 4-inch conduits for
the standby power system on the 2nd Floor.
Crews relocated
sprinkler heads in the new auditorium and Auxiliary
Enterprises installed conduit for the Auditorium
access controls. The ceiling grid and light fixtures were hung
in Room 138 and power was run to the lectern.
The contractor painted door frames and installed
door hardware in the offices on the 1st Floor.
They installed the framing for the sheetrock
ceilings in the 1st Floor bathrooms and light
fixtures were installed in all four
stairwells. Thermostats are being installed on the
1st Floor and glass partitions are being installed
in 1st Floor offices.
At the Student
Residence Hall, crews applied the tack-coat for the
additional parking spaces located by the transformer
vault in preparation for laying asphalt and the
parking spaces were paved. The contractor relocated panels 1X and MDP-X
to the 3rd Floor electrical room in the B-Tower. The existing transformer “D” was removed from
behind the B-Tower electrical closet on the 1st
Floor. Workers
finished framing the ceiling grid for the Fire Alarm
room on the 2nd Floor. The sump pump for the B-Tower elevator has
been installed. The contractor primed and painted the walls
in the C-Tower laundry room and in the pump room. They continued painting the exterior precast
panels of the new elevated structure.
The Resource Center
contractor continued installing heating hot water
pipe in the 2nd Floor pump room. They started piping the pumps on the building
side of the heating water system; one of the two
pipes in the campus heating water loop to the new
heat exchanger is complete.
Crews
continued installing piping from the suction side of
the building heating pumps to the heat exchanger.
The stainless
steel doors on the 1st Floor are being primed; seven
doors are finished. Lockers were installed in the Men’s restroom
and the lockers in the Men’s and Women’s restrooms
have been painted. The ceiling grid was installed in Room 125B
and the helium tank supports were installed in the
bookstore.
Progress on the
permanent repairs and mitigation at the Clinical
Education Building continues. The contractor trenched around the existing
sewer man hole near the generator and placed
limestone for the new sewer man hole near the
generator. A new sewer man hole was installed near the
electrical duct bank and workers installed sewer
pipes connecting to the new sewer man hole. Crews continued trenching for the electrical
duct bank along the drive way. The last section of underground electrical
conduit for the duct bank near the generator was
installed and additional underground electrical
conduit was installed for the duct bank along the
driveway. Workers formed and encased the electrical
conduit with concrete for the duct bank along the
driveway and leading to the Entergy man hole. The contractor is constructing concrete forms
for the walls of the new transformer vault and crews
continued installing domestic water, chilled and
heating hot water pipes in the basement. Conduit was installed in Room 612 for panel
X6PAC.
Outside the building, the contractor finished
installing the metal roof panels and flashing on the
center section of the covered walkway that connects
the CEB to the District Energy Garage.
The contractor
replacing the air handling units in the Dental
School Clinic Building ran the re-heat lines to the
VAV boxes in the corridor near the Oral Pathology
labs. They have completed work on 10 of 15 VAV
boxes near Oral Pathology. Eight (8) riser
isolation valves were installed for the chilled and
heating water in the basement of Administration
Building. Conduit was run from the control panels to
the AHU units new the Gross Anatomy Lab and Oral
Pathology and the control wire was installed for the
thermostats on the 8th Floor near the Gross Anatomy
lab and Oral Pathology. The supply ductwork on
the 8th Floor near the Gross Anatomy lab and the
pipe insulation in the penthouse was insulated.
The contractor also insulated the heating hot water
lines near the Oral Pathology lab and workers
started insulating the supply ductwork in the
penthouse for the unit above the Oral Pathology lab.
The chilled water tie-ins for the unit above Oral
Pathology were finished and the contractor pressure
tested the associated VAV boxes. The block wall in Room 8402 has been removed;
exposing the 8th Floor pipe chase near the Gross
Anatomy lab. The contractor started running
copper pipe back to Room 8402.
The waterproofing
contractor continued pressure washing the exterior
walls of the Dental School’s Clinic and
Administration Buildings. The following portions of the building
exteriors were cleaned:
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th bays on the north
side of the Clinic Building.
- 5th bay on the west side of the Clinic Building.
- 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th bays on the south side
of the Administration Building.
- 1st bay on the west side of the Administration
Building.
The contractor also pressure washed the cross-over
section that connects the Administration and Clinic
Buildings.
Work on the contract
to increase the energy-efficiency of the Dental
School Clinic and Administration buildings is
progressing. The contractor installed four (4)
energy-efficient lights in the Clinic Bldg. 3rd
Floor corridors. An additional forty-nine (49) light fixtures
on the 3rd Floor of the Clinic Bldg. were replaced
with high-efficiency fixtures. Seventeen (17)
light fixtures on the 4th Floor of the Clinic Bldg.
were replaced with new, high-efficiency fixtures. Sixteen (16) light fixtures were replaced
with high-efficiency light fixtures on the 2nd Floor
of the Clinic Bldg.
The contractor continued the final grading the
softball outfield and the multi-purpose sports field
located on the Dental School campus. They excavated for a new catch basin near the
Moss Street entrance and installed a new catch basin
near the Administration Building. Workers also installed the softball backstop
uprights and the backstop. The parking lot lighting project is moving
forward.
The contractor poured the concrete for the 25 new
light pole bases; however pole base # 24 was
rejected and was demolished. Crews have been installing direct-buried
electrical conduit between the new light pole bases.
Here are highlights of work

weeks.

- The contractor relocated panels 1X and MDP-X to the
3rd Floor electrical room in B-Tower.
- The existing transformer “D” was removed from behind
the B-Tower electrical closet on the 1st Floor.
- Workers finished framing the ceiling grid for the
Fire Alarm room on the 2nd Floor.
- The sump pump for the B-Tower elevator has been
installed.
- The contractor primed and painted the walls in the
C-Tower laundry room and in the pump room.
- Facility Services primed the top half of the laundry
room in the C-Tower.
- The contractor continued painting the exterior
precast panels of the new elevated structure.
RESOURCE CENTER PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor continued installing heating hot
water pipe in the 2nd Floor pump room.
- They started piping the pumps on the building side
of the heating water system.
- One of the two pipes in the campus heating water
loop to the new heat exchanger are complete.
- The contractor continued installing piping from the
suction side of the building heating pumps to the
heat exchanger.
- The stainless steel doors on the 1st Floor are being
primed. Seven have been primed.
- Lockers were installed in the Men’s restroom and the
lockers in the Men’s and Women’s restrooms were
painted.
- The ceiling grid was installed in Room 125B.
- The contractor installed the helium tank supports in
the bookstore.
CEB PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor trenched around the existing sewer
man hole near the generator.
- They placed limestone for the new sewer man hole
near the generator.
- A new sewer man hole was installed near the
electrical duct bank.
- Workers installed sewer pipes connecting to the new
sewer man hole near the electrical duct bank.
- They continued trenching for the electrical duct
bank along the drive way.
- The last section of underground electrical conduit
for the duct bank near the generator was installed.
- Additional underground electrical conduit was
installed for the duct bank along the driveway.
- Workers formed and encased electrical conduit with
concrete for the duct bank along the driveway and
leading to the Entergy man hole.
- The contractor is constructing concrete forms for
the walls of the new transformer vault.
- Crews continued installing domestic water, chilled
and heating hot water pipes in the basement.
- Conduit was installed in Room 612 for panel X6PAC.
CSRB EXHAUST UPGRADE:
- The contractor removed the existing exhaust ductwork
on the 1st Floor.
DENTAL SCHOOL AHU REPLACEMENT:
- The contractor ran re-heat lines to the VAV boxes in
the corridor near the Oral Pathology labs.
- Work is complete on 10 of 15 VAV boxes near Oral
Pathology.

- They started running copper pipe back to Room 8402.
- The block wall in Room 8402 has been removed;
exposing the 8th Floor pipe chase near the Gross
Anatomy lab.
DENTAL SCHOOL BLDG EXTERIOR WATERPROOFING:
- The contractor continued pressure washing the
exterior walls of the Clinic and Administration
Buildings. Pressure washing has been completed on the:
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th bays on the north
side of the Clinic Building.
- 5th bay on the west side of the Clinic Building.
- 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th bays on the south side
of the Administration Building.
- 1st bay on the west side of the Administration
Building.
- The contractor pressure washed the cross-over
section between the Administration and Clinic
Buildings.
CEB COVERED WALKWAY:
- The contractor finished installing the metal roof
panels and flashing on the center section of covered
walkway.
DENTAL SCHOOL LIGHTING REPLACEMENT PROJECT:
- The contractor installed 4 energy-efficient lights
in the Clinic Bldg. 3rd Floor corridor.
- An additional 49 light fixtures on the 3rd Floor of
the Clinic Bldg. were replaced with high-efficiency
fixtures.
- The contractor replaced 17 light fixtures on the 4th
Floor of the Clinic Bldg with new, high-efficiency
fixtures.
- The contractor replaced 16 light fixtures with new,
high-efficiency light fixtures on the 2nd Floor of
the Clinic Bldg.
DENTAL SCHOOL STUDENT RECREATIONAL FIELDS:
- The contractor continued the final grading the
softball outfield and the multi-purpose sports
field.
- They excavated for a new catch basin near the Moss
Street entrance.
- A new catch basin was installed near the
Administration Building.
- The contractor installed the softball backstop
uprights and the backstop.
