LSUHSC has issued bids for a contract to substantially increase the capacity of the BSL-3 lab function in the CSRB. Work will occur on the 3rd Floor and will approximately double the size of the current facility. Bids have been opened and an award has been made. We anticipate that the successful bidder will return the executed contract documents shortly and the Notice to Proceed issued. The contract allows 180 calendar days to complete the work.

The contractor working on the permanent repairs and mitigation at the Clinical Education Building finished erecting the steel framing on the 3rd level of the 2nd bay of the new mechanical/electrical building. They are now welding the new steel structure. Crews continue roughing in for the exterior light fixtures in the new loading dock area. Metal door frames for the transformer vault were installed and the contractor poured the concrete deck for the new loading dock. The construction of the CMU wall for the transformer vault has begun. The drain line for the new MEP building is being installed and the exterior windows were removed from Room 331.

The CSRB exhaust system upgrade contractor installed the duct riser cross connection for exhaust system #1 on the 4th Floor. Crews installed the VFDs on the roof for exhaust system #2 and continue to install wiring for the roof-mounted VFDs for exhaust systems #1, 2, and 4. The floor penetration around exhaust riser # 1, 9 and 10 was repaired. Ductwork was installed on the 6th and 7th Floors for exhaust systems #1 and #2 and the shaft walls are being installed around the exhaust riser for fan system #3. Workers are running the wiring to fan systems 1 and 2. The contractor began phase 2B of the project by installing the wall and floor protection in the 2nd Floor corridor. They are currently removing the ceilings in the 2nd Floor corridor.

The project to replace the air handling units that serve the Dental Clinic and Administration Buildings is progressing. Control wires have been run for unit 2A in the Clinic Building and the crews programmed the controls for units 2A and 5B. The contractor continued running the heating hot water lines and installing the supply ductwork and the VAVs for unit 5B. The asbestos abatement for unit 5B was completed and the new unit was set in place. Crews are currently installing supply ductwork for unit 5B. They installed the transitions for unit 5B and started insulating the associated ductwork. Workers removed electrical and pneumatic conduit, lights and ceiling grid from unit 6B in the Clinic Building. The asbestos contractor abated mechanical room 6B and removed ductwork from the 6th Floor. Light fixtures, ceiling tiles and grid were removed from 6th Floor offices.

Crews also removed ceiling and lights from the 7th Floor. The contractor installed the new wall for Room 7312 and taped and floated the wall. The asbestos contractor finished removing ductwork from the 7th Floor. The old unit 7A was demolished and removed from the building. The old concrete pad for unit 7A was removed, a new pad poured and the new unit was set in place. Workers installed the drip pan for unit 7A and are installing the new supply ductwork. The contractor demolished the chilled water lines for unit 7D and removed the old unit. They demolished a CMU block wall to provide access to the mechanical room for the installation of unit 7D.

The contractor continued removing lights and the ceiling from the 2nd half of the Library in the Administration Building. The asbestos contractor removed ductwork and insulation from the front of the Library and the Library workroom and light fixtures were removed from the Library office area. Workers continue installing the new ductwork in the Library and removing ductwork and insulation from the Library offices. Units L4C and L4D in the Administration Building were demolished. Crews built the forms for the concrete pads for AHUs L4C and L4D and poured the concrete. The new unites were set in place and the chilled water lines for the units are being installed. The contractor removed the exterior louvers on the 1st Floor of the Administration Building and the new louvers are being installed.
