NOTICE: The walkway to the Residence Hall was reopened this morning.  This walkway is again the main access to the Medical Education Building from the parking lots.  The first floor doors to the MEB are again locked.  Please note that the stairway doors exiting the building at the first floor are only to be used in case of an emergency, and an alarm will sound if they are opened.

1542 Tulane Ave.:

  • Siemens is trouble-shooting the fire alarm wiring in the basement, 8th Floor, and in the mechanical and animal care rooms on the roof.
  • Stratos Elevator is installing the buffers for Elevator #8.
    • The contractor is installing new doors for Elevator #1.
  • AT&T is working on relocating the demark to the 2nd Floor.
  • Final Remediation and Duct Cleaning:
    •   Zimmer-Eschette finished coating the ducts on the 6th Floor.
    • The contractor finished removing carpet on the 2nd Floor. 
    • Zimmer finished removing the peeling paint on the 3rd Floor and has begun cleaning in the corridors and rooms along theTulane Ave. side of the building. 
    • The damaged floor tile has been removed on the 7th Floor.  Crews are now working on the 6th Floor. 
    • The painting sub-contractor continues to float the walls on the 1st Floor. They are painting the walls on the 8th Floor. 
    • Trison Constructors continue to install sheetrock for the new network closet in Room 356. 
  • Sample Results: 
    • Room 866 passed TEM clearance related to the removal of the asbestos floor tile.
    • The 7th Floor passed TEM clearance related to the removal of the asbestos floor tile.
    • The mold testing completed on the 4th Floor cleared the floor.

Dental School :

  • Sherlock's Construction completed framing the walls for the temporary bookstore. 
    • The rough in electrical work has been finished.
    • Dry wall is being installed on the walls. 
  • Needham Roofing is preparing to replace the Clinic Building roof.
    • They continued to lift the roofing materials by crane onto the roof of the building.
    • Crews are preparing to begin removing the old roofing material.
Exterior Lighting Project:
  • Ordes continued installing new exterior can lights around the perimeter of the Allied Health/Nursing Building.
  •   Mesh was being installed at locations of the MEB that require re-plastering where holes had to be cut for the new can lights.

Landscaping Project:

  • Crews resumed the installation of irrigation piping and sprinklers that began last week on the Perdido St. side of the MEB near the corner of Bolivar St.
    • They completed one station and are close to completing the other.
  • Crews also trenched for two additional irrigation stations mid-block on the Perdido St. side of the MEB.
