NOTICE: The Medical Education Building Air Handling Unit Replacement project continues with the successful replacement of the two air handling units that serve the Perdido Street/Bolivar Street corner of the 6th and 7th floors.  Final tests are being performed on these units this week.  The next two air handling units to be replaced serve the Bolivar Street/MEB loading dock corner of the 6th and 7th floors.  Installation of these units will start at 6:00 PM on Friday, June 19th and complete by July 3rd.

Facility Services will begin setting up temporary air conditioning units on June 15th in labs and offices in the affected quadrants.  Consequently, there will be an electrical outage on Friday, June 12th from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM.  During this outage there will be no power to equipment plugged into receptacles in labs and offices that are served out of main panels DL6C and DL7C which affects panels LC6A, LC6B, LC6C, LC6D, LC6E, LD6F, LC7A, LC7B, LC7C, LC7D, LC7E and LC7F.  Receptacles are labeled in the labs, identifying the panel that supplies the power to the receptacle.  During this electrical outage, breakers will be installed to serve the power panels for the temporary air conditioning units.

As part of the temporary air conditioning setup, Facility Services will be connecting duct work to discharge the rejected heat into the hallways or exhaust ducts.  Power cables from the temporary power panels to the temporary air conditioning units will be installed.  Condensate drain lines from the temporary air conditioning units will be connected to sinks and/or floor drains.  

Please note that the exhaust will be operating normally, which means that all fume hoods will operate normally.  Air handling units on the roof will be providing conditioned air into the labs (as they normally do) and this will help to cool the lab spaces.  Additionally, the other three quadrants on these two floors, as well as the rest of the building, will have normally functioning air conditioning. 

During the continuing construction period, should there be any issue with the air conditioning in your space, please call 568-7715 or 568-7716 and provide your name, contact information, room number and description of the problem.  Occupants should not attempt to adjust the temporary units on their own.

1542 TULANE AVE. :

• The contractor worked on the AHU in Suite 123 .
• Facility Services is applying touch-up paint in 2nd Floor offices.
• The contractor insulated fan coil piping in offices on the 2nd Floor.

EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:

• Facility Services continued installing irrigation piping and wiring on Bolivar Street beside the Residence Hall.

LIONS/LSU CLINIC PERMANENT REPAIRS AND MITIGATION:   

• The electrical contractor removed underground wires from the old generator room.
• Stryker continued their final equipment testing. 
• Additional furniture was delivered to the 6th Floor offices.
• The contractor grounded the communication closets.  

LIONS BUILDING 8th FLOOR NETWORK CLOSET:

• The contractor painted the exterior of the network closet. 

RESIDENCE HALL 2ND FLOOR LOBBY EXPANSION:

• The interior contractor continued installing fire alarm devices between the B & C Tower lobby areas.
• The contractor taped and floated walls in the back corner lobby area of A Tower.  
• Crews continued taping and floating the gypsum board ceiling in the expanded lobby area. 

ALLIED HEALTH/NURSING BLDG RE-ROOFING PROJECT:

• The contractor completed installing aluminum flashing along the MEB side of the roof.

LIBRARY COMMONS:

• The contractor continued the metal framing of the center stair wall.

MEB AIR HANDLING UNIT REPLACEMENT:

• Facility Services continues to monitor and make adjustments to the temporary air conditioning units for the 6th and 7th floors Quadrant D.
• The contractor continued connecting building automation controls for AHU 6D and completed connecting building automation controls for AHU 7D.

MEB 2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:

• The contractor installed wall panels on the left side of Lecture Hall B.

MEB MDL #3 RENOVATIONS:

• The contractor installed ceiling grid in the main MDL room.

MEB PHARMACOLOGY RENOVATIONS:

• The contractor finished waxing the floors in the lab section.

DENTAL SCHOOL AUDITORIUMS A & B RENOVATIONS:

• The contractor installed acoustical panels on the south wall and west wall of Auditorium B. 
• The AV contractor installed components for the for the A/V racks in Room 4202B and pulled antenna wiring for both auditoriums. 
• The mechanical contractor finished connecting the piping for the 2nd Liebert unit.

DENTAL SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND ROAD REPAIRS:

• Contractor began marking the newly paved lot surfaces and setting concrete wheel stops for Parking Lots 2 and 6.
