NOTICE:  The Medical Education Building Air Handling Unit Replacement project continues with the installation of two more air handling units.  The next two air handling units to be replaced serve the South Roman Street/Perdido Street corner of the 6th and 7th floors.  Installation of these units will start at 6:00 PM on Friday, July 10th, and be completed by July 24th.  In order to remove the old units and install the new units, the contractor will erect a crane on South Roman Street .  Subsequently, South Roman Street will be closed from the intersection with Perdido Street to the MEB Loading dock from 9:00 AM on Friday, July 10th, until 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 12th.  The sidewalk along South Roman Street adjacent to the MEB will also be closed to pedestrian traffic.  This is required to protect pedestrians from any falling objects while work is being preformed overhead.       

Temporary air conditioning for the 6th and 7th floor quadrant B will be installed this week.  As part of the temporary air conditioning set-up, Facility Services will be connecting duct work to discharge the rejected heat into the hallways or exhaust ducts.  Only a minimum number of ceiling tiles in labs will be removed or disturbed during this process.  Power cables from the temporary power panels to the temporary air conditioning units will be installed and condensate drain lines will be connected to sinks and/or floor drains.         

Please note that the exhaust will be operating normally, which means that all fume hoods will operate normally.  Air handling units on the roof will be providing conditioned air into the labs (as they normally do) and this will help to cool the lab spaces.  Additionally, the other three quadrants on these two floors, as well as the rest of the building, will have normally functioning air conditioning.        

During the two week construction period, should there be any issue with the air conditioning in your space, please call 568-7715 or 568-7716, and provide your name, contact information, room number and description of the problem.  Occupants should not attempt to adjust the temporary units on their own.

The remainder of the 6th and 7th floors will be done in the same manner, with the South Roman Street/MEB loading dock quadrant being the next scheduled quadrant.  Future notices will be published with information relevant to the affected quadrants.     

1542 TULANE AVE. :

• Facility Services continues making electrical repairs on the 2nd Floor.

EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:

• Facility Services continues sprinkler installation on the Tulane Ave. side of the Roman St. Garage.  

MEB 2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:

• The contractor installed the storefront doors at the Campus Office and Medical Center Stores locations.

LIONS/LSU CLINIC PERMANENT REPAIRS AND MITIGATION:

• The contractor continued pulling network wires for the conference room along Gravier Street in the computer lounge.

RESIDENCE HALL 2nd FLOOR LOBBY EXPANSION:  

• The contractor continued installing the wavy ceiling tile in the expanded lobby area. 
• Electricians began installing the light fixtures below the wavy ceiling. 
• Workers are finishing the new walls in the recreation room.

MEB AIR HANDLING UNIT REPLACEMENT:

• Facility Services continues to monitor and adjust the C Quadrant 6th and 7th Floor temporary units.
• The contractor continues installing piping, insulation, electrical and controls for AHU 6C.
• The installation of the next two units will begin on Friday, July 10th.

MEB MDL #3 RENOVATIONS:

• The contractor continued connecting drain lines for the cabinet sinks. 
• Crews finished installing the cantilever frames. 

DENTAL SCHOOL AUDITORIUMS A & B RENOVATIONS:

• The A/V contractor set the podium in Auditorium B and pulled fiber from the rack room to both auditoriums.
