Facilities is conducting its annual emergency generator load bank testing from May 8th through the 16th. The Isché Library will be affected on May 11th from 8am to 12 noon. The Dental Library will be affected on May 12th either in the morning or the afternoon; there are 2 generators at the Dental Campus and they are each being tested. We are unclear which one is connected to the Administration building.
During testing, the system is supposed to automatically switch to generator power with no disruption to users. However, if something fails, generator power will be restored within 30 minutes.

David Wolff, Evening Supervising Associate at the Isché Library, retired December 31st. He had been employed by the Library from 1998-2006 and then from 2011-2022. Over the years, he worked nearly every shift in public services. As the supervisor to our student workers, he was a mentor. His goal was to make the library a welcoming place for both patrons and employees. He prided himself on his reliability and helpfulness. We will miss him and wish him well in his next career as he moves to Georgia.
Both the Dental and Isché Libraries are closed Tuesday, January 3, 2022 for the Winter Break Holiday. The Isché Library will reopen at 7:30am and the Dental Library will reopen at 8am.
While the Libraries are closed access to the Library Commons in the RCB continues to be open for all badge holders. And, of course, access to the subscribed electronic resources that is available online at all times.
The Isché Library will have Winter Break hours on Sunday, December 18th through Tuesday, January 3rd. The Dental Library will have Winter Break hours on Friday, December 23rd through Tuesday, January 3rd. Additionally, both Libraries will close early on Monday, December 19th for a division meeting.
Both Libraries are closing at 2:30pm today because of the threat of tornadoes. All other departments on campus are closing as well. Both Libraries plan to open tomorrow at their regular times.
The Libraries will both close at 6pm on Wednesday, November 23rd and will remain closed Thursday, November 24th through Saturday, November 26th. The Isché Library will be open on Sunday, November 27th, from 9:30am to 10pm. The Dental Library will reopen on Monday, November 28th at 8am.
Facilities will be testing the Emergency Power System on Saturday, September 24th from 8am until noon. The Isché Library and the RCB are in the testing area. The Library plans on opening at 9:30am as usual. But there may be an short outage while the system is being tested.
Last week the Chancellor’s Excellence award winners were announced and the Libraries’ own Rebecca Bealer was one of the recipients!
Rebecca has worked for the LSUHSC Libraries since 1996 in a variety of rolls. Most importantly for the campus, she was the team lead on rolling out our current off campus management system in 2018. She also is in charge of all the serials/journals for both of our libraries AND is a Mac expert on campus.
The Libraries (and our organization) are very lucky and proud to have her in our ranks
Kathy Kerdolff retired yesterday. She had worked for the LSUHSC Libraries since May 1990. Prior to joining the Library as a Reference Librarian, Kathy had worked with Judith Caruthers, Director of Libraries, on a student internship in 1988 and helped with the plan to move the Libraries from the old Medical School Building and the Medical Education Building into the brand new Resource Center Building.
Kathy was the liaison to the School of Medicine since the program began in May 2005. She was active in state, regional and national library organizations, serving on a variety of committees and all levels and holding elected office at all three levels.
Kathy will continue working with the School of Medicine, Department of Surgery after her retirement and holds an emeritus appointment through that department.
The Libraries will be closed on Monday, July 4th. In addition the Isché Library will be closed on Saturday, July 2nd and Sunday, July 3rd as well. The Dental Library is closed every weekend.
The Library Commons should be available all weekend for any studying needs.
