New Headphones in Dental Library

The Dental Library has NEW HEADPHONES!

The UPGRADE includes:

A library account is needed to borrow headphones. Headphones are considered reserve items and cannot leave the library.

Independence Day Hours

The Libraries will be closed on Monday, July 4th. In addition the Isché Library will be closed on Saturday, July 2nd and Sunday, July 3rd as well. The Dental Library is closed every weekend.

The Library Commons should be available all weekend for any studying needs.

Construction at the Dental Library

Starting Monday, 6/13/2022, contractors will begin repairing the exterior walls and windows in the Dental Library. The perimeter of the Library will be blocked off and there will be some noise, especially at the beginning of the project. Construction is expected to take 3-4 weeks.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. If you need a quiet place to study, please use the Isché Library on the downtown campus. It is on the 3rd floor of the Administration and Resource Building at 433 Bolivar St.

Easter Hours

The Libraries will be closed Friday, April 15-17 for the University Easter Holiday. Both the Isché and Dental Libraries will close at 6pm on Thursday, April 14th. Both Libraries will re-open at 8am on Monday, April 18.

Dental Campus Closed – 2/2/22 at 10am

The Dental Campus including the Dental Library is closed for the day. A water main that is receiving emergency repair by SWB New Orleans has shutdown water to the campus. The Dental Campus plans to reopen tomorrow at regular time.

The Dental Librarians and Dental Library Staff are available via their emails and chat, if assistance is needed.

MLK, Jr Day Holiday

The Libraries will be closed on Monday, January 17th in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday. Both the Dental and the Isché Libraries will reopen at 8am on Tuesday, January 18th. In addition, the Isché Library will be open from 9:30am-6pm on Saturday and 11:30am-8pm on Sunday as usual.

Thanksgiving Hours

The LSUHSC Libraries will be closed Thursday-Friday, November 25-26th for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Isché Library will close at 6pm on Wednesday, November 24th and will be closed on Saturday, November 27th but will be open on Sunday, November 28th from 11:30am to 8pm.

Both Libraries will be open Monday, November 29th at 8am. And resume their current reduced hours.

Dental Library Re-Open!

The Dental Library reopens today (Monday, October 4th) at 8am and is returning to it’s limited COVID hours of 8am-6pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-5pm on Friday.

The Library still has some damage from Hurricane Ida that will be repaired in the coming months, but all library services and study spaces are available.

The Dental Library is closed until further notice. We will reopen as soon as possible while the damages caused by Hurricane Ida are being repaired.

The library staff are working at the Ische’ Library and are available to answer your questions and fill materials requests. ReOpening – Downtown Library

The Ische Library on the Downtown campus will reopen on Monday, September 13th at 8am and will resume full operation.

The Dental Library will remain closed while remediation from Hurricane Ida occurs.

4th of July Holiday

The LSUHSC Libraries, and the LSUHSC campuses, will be closed on Monday, July 5th in observance of the 4th of July holiday. In addition, the Isché Library will be closed on Saturday, July 3rd and Sunday, July 4th.

Both Libraries will be open regular hours on Tuesday, July 6th.

What’s happening?

NCBI is transitioning to federated account credentials. NCBI-managed credentials are the username and password you set at NCBI — these will be going away. Federated account credentials are those set through eRA Commons, Google, or a university or institutional point of access.

How to add a 3rd-party login option

1. Log into your NCBI account as usual.
   1. Click on your username in the upper right corner to access the NCBI Account Settings page.
   1. In the “Linked accounts” (old heading) section, select “Change”.
   1. In the search box, search for your desired 3rd-party option.
   1. Select the link for your desired option.
   1. Authenticate with the 3rd party.

Libraries Extending Hours

On Monday, April 5, 2021, both campus libraries will extend their hours.

The downtown campus Isché Library will be open:
Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 10pm
Friday 7:30am – 6pm
Saturday 9:30am – 6pm
Sunday 9:30am – 10pm

The city park campus Dental Library will be open:
Monday – Thursday 8am -6pm
Friday 8am – 5pm

Easter Hours

The Libraries will be closed for the Easter University Holiday from Friday, April 2nd through Sunday, April 4th. Additionally the Isché Library will close at 6pm on Thursday, April 1st.

Both Libraries will reopen on Monday morning, April 5th.

Carnival Hours

With no parades happening this year, the Libraries will maintain their current hours, except that the Isché Library will close at 6pm on Lundi Gras (February 15th) at 6pm.

Both Libraries will be closed for Mardi Gras (February 16th), as this is a university holiday. Go eat some king cake and check out some House Floats and stay safe!
