Hebert Honored for Humanitarian Achievements

Dr. Corey Hebert Weiss Awards

The New Orleans Council for Community and Justice (NOCCJ) selected Dr. Corey Hebert, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine, as one of five recipients of this year’s Weiss Award. The Weiss awards recognize outstanding community leaders who exemplify civic and humanitarian contributions to the furtherance of human dignity.

Dr. Hebert, who treats patients at the LSU Health New Orleans practice based at Children’s Hospital, also promotes health through a variety of media and public speaking. He is the medical editor for WDSU-TV, a frequent on-air contributor to the Dr. Oz Show, MSNBC’s Ed Show, the Discovery Channel’s How Stuff Works television show and has made hundreds of appearances on national television networks and outlets such as CNN, CBS, National Geographic, the Meredith Vieira Show, Good Morning America and the Today Show. Dr. Hebert is also the Chief Executive Officer of Community Health TV which is the parent company of and His weekly radio show, Doctor For The People, draws health questions from a national audience of listeners. His travels across the country and around the globe have connected him to thousands of people as both a healer and a motivator.

The New Orleans Council for Community and Justice (NOCCJ), founded in 1927 as The National Conference of Christians and Jews, is a human relations organization dedicated to promoting equality and fighting disparity in the Greater New Orleans area. The organization strives to open minds and bring people together by promoting understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy, education and initiatives.
