Library Commons Opens

After fourteen months of construction, the Library Commons officially opened on July 15th. The space is adjacent to the Isché Library. This beautifully designed area is accessible twenty-four hours a day (via LSUHSC ID access) and offers a functional and hospitable environment to all LSUHSC students, staff, and faculty.

The Library Commons offers a coffee and snack bar that serves Starbucks coffee products in addition to a variety of pastries, sandwiches and salads. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7am- 3pm; food service is supplied by Auxiliary Enterprises (link removed).

Numerous sitting areas provide ideal spots for individual studying, but group areas are offered as well. An audio-visual area is available to all students, faculty, and staff for use with personal laptops. This is a perfect place to share notes or practice for an upcoming presentation. The cables necessary to use the flat screens with laptops are available for checkout at the Isché Circulation Desk all hours (link removed) that the Library is open.

A growing collection of medical instruments and books dating back to the early 1900's occupy our numerous display cases. These artifacts add an historical aspect to a completely modern space and denote just how much the Science of Medicine has advanced over the past century.
