Info in a Flash: Library Basics
Here are some quick facts about the John P. Isché Library, the Main Library for LSUHSC in New Orleans, located on the 3rd-5th floors of the Resource Center Building and housing over 200,000 print items; the Library also has an extensive, constantly growing collection of electronic books and journals. | Finding Books & Journals | Use Innopac(link removed), the Libraries’ online catalog, to find both print and online books and journals.
Online materials are linked through the catalog.
Print books are arranged by the National Library of Medicine System of Classification(link removed); each call number corresponds to a specific subject on the 3rd and 4th floors.
Print journals are arranged by title on the 5th floor. |

| Computers and Wireless |
22 PCs are available in the computer lab(link removed) on the 4th floor with full Internet access are available to LSUHSC faculty, staff, and students. Use is limited by key access; an LSUHSC Academic Unit ID is required.
Over 40 laptop ports(link removed) are spread throughout the Library -- at tables, in carrels, and study rooms.
The LSUHSC Wireless Network(link removed) allows for numerous simultaneous log on. Instructions for Windows XP(link removed), Windows Vista(link removed), and Intel PROSet(link removed) are available.
17 Public Access Computers(link removed) are available for use with Library systems and databases, LSUHSC Email, and University applications. |

| Study and AV Rooms | Group study rooms are available on the 4th floor for use by all Library patrons; these are rooms 401-N, 401-P, 401-Q, 401-R, and 401-S.
One Audio-Visual Room is available, room 401-T, in addition to the Audio-Visual carrels. |

| Printing and Photocopying | Printing and photocopying in the Library are fee-based; printing is 7¢ a page and 11¢ for a double-sided page via Paypaw(link removed) only; photocopying is 10¢ per page cash, and 7¢ per page via Paypaw(link removed).
There are 2 Library print stations (3rd and 4th floors). And there are 5 digital Ikon Copiers (all floors). |
