As the chief academic officer for
the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, the Vice Chancellor
for Academic Affairs oversees the operations of three major areas –
Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Research. Joseph M.
Moerschbaecher, III, PhD, serves as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
reporting directly to the Chancellor.
The Associate Vice
Chancellor for Academic and Multicultural Affairs reports to the
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Academic units reporting to
the Vice Chancellor include the Division of Libraries (the John
Isché Library and the Dental School Library), the International
Services Office, the Office of Planning and Institutional
Research, and the Office of Health Care Systems. The Vice
Chancellor also oversees program and curriculum
changes; insures LSUHSC-NO's compliance with pertinent Louisiana and
federal laws, LSU System Bylaws and Regulations, Chancellor's
Memoranda and regional accreditation standards; and publishes the Faculty Handbook.
Research related units under
Academic Affairs include the Office of Research Services (Grants
and Contracts,
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and the
Institutional Review Board), the Division of Animal Care, and
the Office of Technology Development.
Student Affairs units include
the Office of the Registrar, the Student Financial Aid Office,
Student Health, and the Campus Assistance Program.
