Note: The LSUHSC-NO
Human Subject Protection Program (IRB) has initiated the use of
a new online tutorial for training in Human Subjects Protection.
The new program is called the Collaborative Institutional
Training Initiative (CITI) and is now used by over 1000
institutions throughout the country. The new program involves
the completion of a number of modules with quizzes related to
the type of human subject research you conduct, i.e., Biomedical
or Social/Behavioral/Epidemiological. If you are conducting
Biomedical (FDA regulated) research, you must also complete a
set of modules on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) related to drug
or device development. Everyone involved in any capacity in
human subjects research will be required to complete the
appropriate CITI training. Beginning Feb 1, 2009 no new
or re-approval IRB applications will be accepted unless CITI
requirements have been completed by all study personnel.
