Louisiana Economic Development:
Louisiana Economic
Development, in support of Vision 2020, has restructured its
economic development process by implementing the “clustering”
concept. The identified clusters reflect the diverse industries in
the State – both the traditional industries such as manufacturing,
and the emerging industries like biotechnology. The State’s roster
of business incentives is designed to retain and attract new
industry; foremost among them are the tax credits and rebates,
infrastructure assistance and workforce training.
The Louisiana Business and Technology Center:
The
Louisiana Technology Business and Technology Center is designed to foster
business relationships between Louisiana industry and federal
laboratories by leveraging the research capabilities of those labs
with the commercial development potential of the private sector.
Louisiana Technology Council (LTC):
The idea to form a technology council
for the New Orleans area began in the early 1990's. The founders
felt that a strategy to build a technology component for the New
Orleans economy was important and necessary in moving the region
into the 21st Century. As a result, the Louisiana Technology Council
(LTC) originally known as the New
Orleans Technology Council (NOTC) was created in early 1994.
The Idea Village: The
Idea Village is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation that generates
economic development in the New Orleans region by turning ideas into
businesses and accelerating the growth of entrepreneurial companies.

The European Patent Office: Search indexes and other
resources regarding European Patents.
SBIR Gateway: SBIR (Small Business
Innovation Research) is a federal government program administered by
10 federal agencies for the purpose of helping to provide
early-stage Research and Development funding to small technology
companies (or individual entrepreneurs who form a company)
Solicitations are released periodically from each of the agencies
and present technical topics of R&D which the agency is interested
in funding. Companies are invited to compete for funding by
submitting proposals answering the technical topic needs of the
agency's solicitation.

Council On Governmental Relations
(COGR):
COGR's primary function is to provide advice and information to its
membership and to make certain that federal agencies understand
academic operations and the impact of proposed regulations on
colleges and universities. COGR helps to develop policies and
practices that fairly reflect the mutual interests and separate
obligations of federal agencies and universities in research and
graduate education.

The
SBA's mission is to maintain and strengthen the nation's economy by
aiding, counseling, assisting and protecting the interests of small
businesses and by helping families and businesses recover from
national disasters.

Navy and the Office of Naval Research are committed to strengthening
the role of small businesses in naval science and technology.

AUTM® is a
nonprofit association with membership of more than 3,200 technology
managers and business executives who manage intellectual
property-one of the most active growth sectors of the U.S. economy.
AUTM's members represent over 300 universities, research
institutions, teaching hospitals and a similar number of companies
and government organizations.
TechEx, a division of UTEK:
TechEx has built an exciting
network of research and licensing professionals in the biomedical
industry. TechEx offers an online Technology Exchange® where members
can identify and introduce technology and intellectual property that
is available for partnering.
The Better World Project::
The Association of University Technology Managers, an international
