This manual is intended to acquaint Principal Investigators with the policies and procedures of the LSU Health Sciences Center, to describe the various services available in the preparation of grant applications and contracts, as well as to serve as a reference guide for information and assistance. This manual is constructed by dividing pre- and post-award activities. Pre-award descriptions are found in Chapters 1-9. All of Chapter 10 is devoted to post-award activities.
Information concerning Intellectual Property (material transfer agreements, inventions, patents, copyrights, etc.) should be obtained from the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Office of Technology Transfer (568-4804).
Professional service, consulting and other contracts requiring LSUHSC to pay monies to other entities are administered by the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance (568-5135), and will not be addressed in the Sponsored Projects Manual.
It is the policy of LSUHSC to aid in the accomplishment of the institutions mission to provide instruction, public service and research in the fields related to health. The institution accepts funds and enters into agreements with extramural agencies for research, training and public service.
LSUHSC has established various procedures for initiating and conducting research projects. However, the primary responsibility for managing these projects remains with the Principal Investigator.
