Charles Banks received an upgrade this Summer to his Civil Service position to Mobile Equipment Operator 1.

Carolyn Bridgewater, Reference Librarian, has been awarded the William D. Postell, Sr. Professional Development Award from the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA). She presented a poster session at SCC/MLA's annual meeting in October; the poster was entitled "Slyly (Not Slightly) Shifting Serials."

Elizabeth Dean, Assistant to the Library Director, has been awarded one of the 1999 Pfizer Excellence Awards (See related story).

Tom Finicle, Stacks Maintenance Supervisor, left the library in August. He is now employed with Space Station Kenner. He was a co-author on a poster session, "Slyly (Not Slightly) Shifting Serials," at SCC/MLA in October.

Pauline Fulda, Associate Director, was a co-author on a poster session, "Slyly (Not Slightly) Shifting Serials," at SCC/MLA in October.

Michelle Hudson joined the Library staff at the end of October. Her title is Document Delivery/Technical Services Associate.

Jennifer Kelly, Evening Reference Librarian, has been appointed to the SCC/MLA Awards & Scholarships commitee.

Kerry Kareokowsky joined the Library Staff in October as a Circulation Associate at the Isché Library. She is a recent graduate of Loyola - New Orleans.

Kathy Kerdolff, Reference Librarian, presented a poster session on "Launching a Web Searchable Bibliographic Database: a Technique to Increase Access to Morbidity Information" (See related story) at the Assembly on Education Summer Symposium sponsored by American Health Information Management Association. She presented a similar session at SCC/MLA in October. Kathy has also been appointed to the SCC/MLA Continuing Education committee.

Hanna Kwasik joined the Library in September as Serials Librarian. She was formerly employed by the Earl K. Long Library at the University of New Orleans.

Jennifer Lloyd, Circulation & Interlibrary Loan Manager, has been appointed to both the SCC/MLA and the Louisiana Library Association (LLA) Membership committees.

Mary Marix, Reference Librarian, has been appointed Chair of the Nominating committee for the Public Services Section of MLA. She also has been appointed to the SCC/MLA Credentialing committee.

Sandra Ogden, Serials Librarian, left the library in June. She accepted the position of Coordinator of Technical Services for the Hancock County Library System in Mississippi.

Beth Oliver joined the Library Staff in July as a Circulation Associate at the Isché Library. She is a recent graduate of LSU-BR.

Liz Schafer, Circulation Associate at the Isché Library, left the library in August for a job in the Career Placement Office at UNO.

Freyja Stoltz, Serials Associate at the Dental Library, left the Library following the birth of her son, Joseph McCain Stoltz.

Elizabeth Strother, Head of the Dental Library, was recertified by the Academy of Health Information Professionals at the distinguished level. She also received an award for 20 years of service at the Career Service Awards Ceremony.
