Rebecca Bealer, MLIS, Serials Librarian, attended the Innovative Users Group annual conference in April in Chicago, where she also moderated the Serials Forum.

Marlene Bishop, MLIS, AHIP, Head - Collection Development, organized the first teleconferenced annual meeting of the state medical librarians group (HSLAL). Three locations participated from around the state, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport, with 40 librarians in attendance. She is also the vice president/president-elect for that group.

Carolyn K. Bridgewater, MLIS, MSW, AHIP, Reference Librarian, has received a Professional Development Award from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine to attend the Patients and Populations: Public Health in Medical Education in Cleveland, Ohio in September.

Kathryn E. Kerdolff, MLIS, AHIP, Reference Librarian, presented a poster at the Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA) in Oklahoma City in April entitled, "Reliability and Validity of a Competency Test to Measure Information Retrieval and Evidence Based Practice Skills of Second Year Medical Students;" the poster was coauthored by Molly Knapp (Library), Tong Yang and Richard DiCarlo (both in Medicine). Kathy also presented a poster at the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE)in New Orleans in July entitled, "2nd Year Medical Students Evidence Based Practice Skills: an Online Competency Assessment;" the poster was coauthored by Molly Knapp (Library), Tong Yang and Richard DiCarlo (both in Medicine).

Molly Knapp, MA, AHIP, Reference Librarian, was awarded a National Library of Medicine/Marine Biology Laboratories Informatics Fellowship in May. She spent a week at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts to study current trends in informatics in June. Molly also presented a poster at the Medical Library Association (MLA) meeting in Washington, DC in May entitled, "Snapshot of Digitization in Health Sciences Libraries: a Descriptive Survey." Molly taught approximately 39 librarians statewide at the HSLAL spring meeting; the continuing education course was entitled, "The Fine Art of Connecting Users: Incorporating Virtual Reference Services, RSS & Mobile Devices into Library Reference Services." She, along with Jennifer Lloyd, also published an article in the Journal of Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries; the citation is as follows: Knapp, MM; Lloyd, JK. "Mobile Computing in the Library: 'Droid Does? Developments in the Android Medical App Market." Journal of Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries 2010; 7(3):247-53.

Jennifer K. Lloyd, MLIS, AHIP, Information Technology & ILL Librarian and Acting Head-Circulation, coauthored an article with Molly Knapp in the Journal of Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries.

S. Claire Mayeux, Isché Circulation Associate, attended the American Library Association Meeting in Washington, DC in June as part of her Project Recovery Scholarship (link removed) from the School of Library and Information Science at LSU-BR. She has also been awarded the Library Student Outreach Award from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine/South Central Chapter (NNLM/SCR); this scholarship will allow Claire to attend the annual meeting of the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA) in Austin in October.

Elizabeth A. Strother, MLS, MBA, AHIP, Head of the Dental Library, presented a poster at the American Education Association conference in Washington, DC in March, entitled, "Incoming Dental Student Expectations of an Electronic Textbook Program."
