MDConsult Changes & Quick Tips

Patrons who use MDConsult must now use Patron Name - Library Barcode - PIN for Off Campus access. The change allows MDConsult to be accessed like the majority of the library's databases. Patrons can still create a personal account within MDConsult where customized patient handouts and other storage or notes can be created.

MDConsult is best used to search for clinical diagnoses or disease treatment topics. Search results pull from books and journals, as well as clinical guidelines. Start the search by choosing the Recommended Resources Topic List. Select a specific clinical topic. The recommended resources direct the searcher to available full text clinical content. The content is located under clinical headings: Overview, Signs & Symptoms, Etiology, Diagnosis, Treatment & Management, Screening & Prevention, Patient Education, and Practice Guidelines where available.

MDConsult can be searched using keywords. The results page identifies the search terms in yellow highlight. Search results are displayed for all sections: Books, Journals, Clinics, Patient Education, Guidelines, Images, and News.
