The Library's Web of Science (link removed) consists of two citation databases containing information gathered from numerous scholarly journals in all areas of research. Now, users have access to current information and retrospective data from 1970 to present.

Science Citation Index Expanded (link removed)

  • Includes approximately 423,000 new cited references per week.
  • As of January 1991, contains searchable, full-length, English-language author abstracts for approximately 70% of the articles in the index.
  • Social Sciences Citation Index (link removed)

  • Includes approximately 60,000 new cited references per week.
  • As of January 1992, contains searchable, full-length, English-language author abstracts for approximately 60% of the articles in the index.
  • Distinct from other indexes, Web of Science provides access to the articles' cited references. Advantages are: determine who is citing your research and how it is being used to support current research; track the research activities of colleagues; and follow the history of an idea or methodology from its conception to the present day.
