Computing at Isché

Using the computer at the Isché Library is easier now than ever before...well at least since you no longer have to check-out keys to use them. Our keyless access computers (in the computer lab, room 401-K) come equipped with full internet access, Microsoft Office 2007, Adobe Reader and other programs useful for your academic experience. A couple of things to note:

  • Do not save any work on the computer's hard drive because it is automatically erased after a couple of hours of disuse.
  • The 8 computers outside the computer lab will remain under lock and key for those patrons who either do not have an LSUHSC login or those who are having difficulty logging into their personal accounts. An LSUHSC ID is held to utilize these computers.
  • Remember: All university users of the Information Technology infrastructure (computers, computer networks, databases, etc.) are expected to exhibit responsible behavior and comply with applicable federal and state laws, as well as LSUHSC rules and policies. See Chancellor's Memoranda 42 (link removed) on Information Technology and Infrastructure for more information.
  • There are 5 computers on the 3rd floor, along with several others outlining the stairwell on the 4th and 5th floors that are restricted to Library resources only. Be aware if you attempt to open your LSUHSC e-mail with an attachment or view a syllabus on Moodle because it simply will not work on these computers. The computers in the Library Commons area are equivalent to those in the library's computer lab, yet the Library Commons computers have an additional software feature called SAS (link removed) (Statistical Analysis System). This is being brought to you by the LSUHSC School of Public Health (link removed) but any LSUHSC user is welcome to access it.

    Printing
Currently there are two print stations in the library, one on the 3rd floor and one on the 4th floor outside the computer lab. One-sided print-outs are 8¢ per page and double-sided print-outs are 12¢ per page. Anytime you send something to the printer you will be prompted for a username and password, minimum one character. After sending it to the printer, you simply go to retrieve it at one of the print stations by swiping your card, selecting your print job, and typing in your password.
