Library Bulletin Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Library -- New Orleans Rebecca Bealer, MLIS, Serials Librarian, has been appointed chair of the newsletter committee for the Health Sciences Library Association of Lousiana (HSLaL). Marlene Bishop, MLIS, Head of Collection Development, has been elected vice-president/president-elect of HSLaL. She also published an article in the Doody's Core Titles Featured Articles in November 2009 (link removed); the article is entitled, "Finding Balance and Value in Your Print and Online Collections." Kathryn E. Kerdolff, MLIS, AHIP, Reference Librarian, has completed the Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC) program from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC); she was one of only three from LSUHSC. She also co-presented a poster with Molly Knapp at the South Central Chapter (SCC) of the Medical Library Association (MLA) annual meeting in Tulsa in October entitled, "Medical Students’ Information Seeking Habits." Molly Knapp, MA, Reference Librarian, co-taught a continuing education course with Jodi Philbrick (University of North Texas) at the SCC/MLA annual meeting in Tulsa in October entitled, "The Fine Art of Connecting Users: Incorporating Virtual Reference Services, RSS and Mobile Devices into Library Services;" she also presented a poster at that meeting entitled, "Snapshot of digitization in health sciences libraries: a descriptive survey." In additiona, Molly co-presented a poster with Kathy Kerdolff at the same meeting entitled, "Medical Students’ Information Seeking Habits." Hanna Kwasik, MLIS, AHIP, Head Cataloger, has been elected secretary for the SCC/MLA. She has also renewed as a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) at the Distinguished member level. S. Claire Mayeux, Isché Circulation Associate, has been awarded a Project Recovery Scholarship (link removed)from the School of Library and Information Science at LSU-BR. She will continue to work full-time while pursuing her master of library science degree. Elizabeth A. Strother, MLS, MBA, AHIP, Head of the Dental Library, has renewed as a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) at the Distinguished member level. She has also coauthored an article with members of the Dental Faculty; the citation is as follows: Strother EA, Brunet DP, Bates ML, Gallo JR. Dental students' attitudes towards digital textbooks.
