Library Bulletin Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Library -- New Orleans Marlene Bishop, MLIS, AHIP, Head - Collection Development, is current president of the Health Sciences Library Association of Louisiana. Remeika Fobb, Isché Circulation Associate, left the Library in October. Kathryn E. Kerdolff, MLIS, AHIP, Reference Librarian, has been elected treasurer of the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA); it is a three year office. She also presented (with Molly Knapp, Tong Yang and Richard DiCarlo) a poster entitled, "2nd Year Medical Students Evidence Based Practice Skills: An Online Competency Assessment" at the SCC/MLA Annual Meeting in October in Austin, TX. Molly Knapp, MA, AHIP, Reference Librarian, has been appointed Survey Liasion for the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA). Her book chapter entitled, "Digitizing a Newspaper Clippings Collection at LSU Health Sciences Center Library" in Digitization in the Real World was recently published by the Metropolitan New York Library Council. She also presented (with Kathy Kerdolff, Tong Yang and Richard DiCarlo) a poster entitled, "2nd Year Medical Students Evidence Based Practice Skills: An Online Competency Assessment" at the SCC/MLA Annual Meeting in October in Austin, TX. Additionally, Molly presented a poster (with Jennifer Lloyd) entitled, "These Are the Droids that You are Looking For! Medical Applications in the Android Marketplace" at the SCC/MLA Annual Meeting in October in Austin, TX. Jennifer K. Lloyd, MLIS, AHIP, Information Technology & ILL Librarian and Acting Head-Circulation, has been appointed Chair of the Credentialing Committee for the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA). She also presented a poster (with Molly Knapp) entitled, "These Are the Droids that You are Looking For! Medical Applications in the Android Marketplace" at the SCC/MLA Annual Meeting in October in Austin, TX. Additionally, she moderated a Roundtable on the topic, "AHIP? Can I Join To?" at the same meeting. Kresenda Raasch, Interlibrary Loan Associate, gave birth to a son, James Bryce Raasch IV, on January 1st. Julie Schiavo, MLIS, AHIP, Dental Reference Librarian, presented (with Debbie Sibley) a poster entitled, "Outreach at the LSUHSC-NO School of Dentistry Clinic: Providing Quality Consumer Health Information to Dental Patients" at the South Central Chapter Medical Library Association Annual Meeting in October in Austin, TX. Debbie Sibley, MEd, MLS, AHIP, Acting Director, has been selected for the NLM/AAHSL Leadership Fellows Program. This program matches fellows with experienced library director mentors for a year-long learning experience. It is jointly sponsored by the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM). She is also the Co-Chair for the Program Commitee for South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA). Additionally she copresented (with Julie Schiavo) a poster entitled, "Outreach at the LSUHSC-NO School of Dentistry Clinic: Providing Quality Consumer Health Information to Dental Patients" at the SCC/MLA Annual Meeting in October in Austin, TX. David Wolff, returned to the Isché Circulation Department in January; he had previously worked for the LSUHSC Libraries from 1998-2006. Amy Woodruff, MFA, Collection Development Associate, received her Master's of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College. |
