Staff News

Carolyn K. Bridgewater, MLIS, MSW, AHIP, Reference Librarian, secured (along with Debbie Sibley) a Technology Improvement Award for partnering with Ville Ste. Marie (in Old Jefferson)to link seniors to NLM's consumer health information.

Kathryn E. Kerdolff, MLIS, AHIP, Reference Librarian, was the recipient of a Professional Development Award from the South Central Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. Her award will fund her attendance at SGEA conference in Lexington, Kentucky in April.

Jennifer K. Lloyd, MLIS, AHIP, Information Technology & ILL Librarian and Acting Head-Circulation, was the recipient of a Professional Development Award from the South Central Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. Her award will fund her attendance at the Innovative User's Group Annual Meeting in Chicago in April.

Kandice Osborne, Dental Evening Circulation Associate, joined the Dental Library in December. She is a UNO graduate and most recently worked for the UNO credit union.

Julie Schiavo, MLIS, AHIP, Dental Reference Librarian, has published an article entitled, "Oral Health Literacy in the Dental Office: The Unrecognized Patient Risk Factor" in the fall 2011 issue of Journal of Dental Hygiene.

Debbie Sibley, MEd, MLS, AHIP, Acting Director, secured (along with Carolyn Bridgewater) a Technology Improvement Award for partnering with Ville Ste. Marie (in Old Jefferson)to link seniors to NLM's consumer health information.

Elizabeth A. Strother, MLS, MBA, AHIP, Head of the Dental Library, won the Elizabeth K. Eaton Research Award at South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association annual meeting in October for a poster entitled "Incoming Dental Student Expectations of an Electronic Textbook Program." Her partners were Darlene Brunet, Larry Bates and John Gallo (all of the School of Dentistry).

Liz was also the recipient of a Professional Development Award from the South Central Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. Her award funded her visit to the National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore in October.
