Library Bulletin Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Library -- New Orleans

Don Aleman joined the Isché Library in August as a Circulation Associate. He worked previously for UNO Library and for Jefferson Parish Public Libraries.

Marlene Bishop, MLIS, AHIP, Head of Collection Development, has been accepted for membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals at the Senior level.

Carolyn K. Bridgewater, MLIS, MSW, Reference Librarian, was honored with a William D. Postell, Sr. Professional Development Award from the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association to attend a course entitled, "Introduction to ArcGIS I" offered by Southern University - Baton Rouge.

Remeika Fobb-Daniels joined the Isché Library in May as a Circulation Associate. She worked previously as a teacher.

Patrick Garon, Circulation Associate, left the Library in May.

Valerie Hernandez rejoined the Library Staff as the Cataloging/Serials Associate in April. Valerie worked in the Dental Library until Hurricane Katrina. She was most recently employed in Texas.

Kathryn E. Kerdolff, MLIS, AHIP, Reference Librarian, in cooperation with Molly Knapp will have a book chapter published in An Introduction to Instructional Services in Academic Libraries which is forthcoming Spring 2008 from Haworth Press. Their chapter is entitled, "MeSHing with Medical Students: Effectiveness of Library Instruction Over Time: A Longitudinal Research Study." She has also been re-appointed to the LALINC Information Literacy Committee.

Molly Knapp, MA, Reference Librarian, in cooperation with Kathy Kerdolff will have a book chapter published in An Introduction to Instructional Services in Academic Libraries which is forthcoming Spring 2008 from Haworth Press. Their chapter is entitled, "MeSHing with Medical Students: Effectiveness of Library Instruction Over Time: A Longitudinal Research Study." She has also been appointed to the LOUIS Louisiana Digital Library Committee.

Hanna Kwasik, MLIS, AHIP, Head Cataloger, has been re-appointed to the LALINC Collection Committee.

Mary L. Marix, MLS, AHIP, Reference Librarian, has been named Chair of the LALINC Electronic Resources Committee.

Julie Schiavo, MLIS, AHIP, Dental Reference Librarian, was honored with a William D. Postell, Sr. Professional Development Award from the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association to attend an online Library CE, entitled "How to Find Medical Information on the Internet."

Debbie Sibley, MEd, MLS, AHIP, returned to LSUHSC after an almost 20 year absence as the new Associate Director. (see related story) She has also been approved for membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals at the Distinguished Member level. Additionally, she has been appointed to the LALINC Grants Committee.

Wilba Swearingen, MA, MLS, AHIP, Library Director, has been named Member-at-Large to the LALINC Executive Board
