PDA Resources

You can access 5 specialized PDA resources for free simply by being a member of the LSUHSC community! All you need is a PDA and a little patience. All resources listed below are available for PocketPC and Palm handhelds. Check out the following resources for drug information, clinical interventions, evidence-based guidelines, and more!

AccessMedicine (link removed) Medical topics are only a click away from your PDA in AccessMedicine, a full text medical textbook provider-which includes Harrison's Online, Hurst's the Heart & many more. Simply set up a "My AccessMedicine" account and download the free Mobipocket reader software to your PDA & PC. Once you find the information you need in AccessMedicine, click the "Save for PDA" link and the content will be added to your handheld the next time you sync.

Dynamed (link removed) From AAT deficiency to Zygomycosis, DynaMed is a point-of-care reference resource designed to provide doctors and medical researchers with the best available evidence to support clinical decision-making. Dynamed has nearly 2,000 clinical topic summaries available for your Palm OS and Microsoft Mobile devices. Downloading the PDA component requires a serial number, contact Kathy Kerdolff (link removed) (504-568-6102) or Molly Knapp (link removed) (504-568-8339) to obtain one.

InfoPOEMS (link removed) InfoPOEMS stands for Patient Oriented Evidence that Matters. Now you can find evidence-based information on your PDA with only a few taps using InfoRetriever, the InfoPOEMS PDA application. InfoRetriever searches a full spectrum of evidence-based content and tools: POEMs and Cochrane Systematic Review abstracts, decision support tools, diagnostic calculators, and summaries of evidence-based practice guidelines. Also included is the full Griffith's 5-Minute Clinical Consult.

MDConsult (link removed) MDConsult offers POCKETConsult, a management tool for Elsevier content on your mobile PDA. LSUHSC users have access to medical calculators, MDConsult News, MDConsult Drug Updates and Mosby's Drug Consult with their MDConsult subscription.

MICROMEDEX (link removed) Physicians, pharmacists, nurses, will be interested to know that evidence-based information from MICROMEDEX is now in PDA format. Databases available include drugs, alternative medicine, acute care, toxicology, & medical diagnosis.
