Library Bulletin Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Library -- New Orleans


Staff News

Marlene Bishop, MLIS, AHIP, Head of Collection Development, will serve on the Louisiana Advisory Council for the State Documents Depository Program. She will represent LSU Health Sciences Center Libraries - New Orleans, as well as, serving as a member representing special libraries.

Carolyn K. Bridgewater, MLIS, MSW, Reference Librarian, earned a Consumer Health Information Specialization certificate from the Medical Library Association at the Level II designation.

Mike Fallon joined the Library as the new Business Manager in June; he previously worked for both UNO and the LSU School of Dentistry Faculty Practice.

Kathryn E. Kerdolff, MLIS, AHIP, Reference Librarian, received the David A. Kronick Traveling Fellowship at the Awards Luncheon of the Medical Library Association's Annual Meeting in Chicago in May.

Molly Knapp, MA, Reference Librarian, received the Medical Informatics Section/MLA Career Development Grant at the Awards Luncheon of the Medical Library Association's Annual Meeting in Chicago in May. She was also named an Official MLA 2008 Conference Blogger and was accepted for membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) at the Senior Member level.

Hanna Kwasik, MLIS, AHIP, Head Cataloger, was recognized at the Awards Luncheon of the Medical Library Association's Annual Meeting in Chicago for her work as the Chair of the Grants and Scholarship Committee.

Jennifer K. Lloyd, MLIS, AHIP, Information Technology & ILL Librarian, received one of the inaugural SCAMeL Librarian Exchange Awards.

Joe Plummer joined the Dental Library in June as an evening circulation associate; he has a BA from Catholic University in Washington, DC and a Masters of Liberal Arts from St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM.

Julie Schiavo, MLIS, AHIP, Dental Reference Librarian, earned a Consumer Health Information Specialization certificate from the Medical Library Association at the Level II designation; she also renewed as a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP), moving from Senior to Distinguished member level.

Debbie Sibley, MEd, MLS, AHIP, Associate Director, has been named chair of the Joseph Leiter NLM/MLA Lectureship Committee.
