The John P. Isché Library is the Main Library for LSUHSC in New Orleans. It houses over 80,000 monographs and over 2,359 current serial titles. It is housed on the third, fourth, and fifth floors of the Resource Center Building.
In 1989, two branches of the LSUMC-New Orleans Library (now LSUHSC) merged to form the
Library located on Bolivar Street. The two branch libraries were located at 1542 Tulane Avenue
(in the Clinical Education Building) and 1900 Perdido Street (in the Medical Education Building). The new, single Library was dedicated in the name of John P. Isché, a former director, on May 24, 1991.
Mr. Isché guided the library for 26 years, from 1959 until 1985. He died in 1988.
