Thieme’s E-Journals

LSUHSC Libraries no longer have access to the database EMBASE due to the high price and low use.

Scopus Display (Windows 7 & IE 9)

Do you have problem viewing Scopus on computers that are running Windows 7 and use the IE 9?

Here is how you can fix it:

From IE 9 browser go to Tools and then click on Compatibility view settings and check Display all websites in Compatibility View.

Taylor & Francis Online will be unavailable

Taylor & Francis Online will be undergoing maintenance on Friday 13th January 2012, starting at 5pm CST and finishing by 8pm CST. The platform may be unavailable for approximately one hour during the scheduled maintenance window.

ScienceDirect unavailable 9/10

Please note on September 10, 2011 Elsevier will be releasing several new enhancements to the SciVerse platform.

ScienceDirect and Scopus, will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance for approximately 9 hours (6:30am – 4:30pm) on Saturday, 28 August. During this time, upgrades will be implemented to these systems as part of the launch of the new SciVerse platform.

An Odyssey of Knowledge

The Exhibition Program of the National Library of Medicine produced a new online exhibit, An Odyssey of Knowledge, Medieval Manuscripts and Early Printed Books from the National Library of Medicine. Featuring twenty one medieval manuscripts and five early printed texts scanned at high resolution, the exhibit displays some of the most prized items held by the National Library of Medicine. It gives viewers a rare look at texts that are normally kept under lock and key, containing medical knowledge which spans over two millennia.

World Health Day (WHD) has been observed on April 7, since 1948 under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization .
