Congratulations to Julie Schiavo, dental librarian & recent iSchool grad
Our kudos and congratulations go out to our dental librarian Julie Schiavo, who recently completed a Certificate of Advanced Study in Health Sciences Librarianship from the University of Pittsburgh.
2012 Graduates of UPitt's iSchool Health CAS
Ms. Schiavo completed a rigorous one year, 15 credit program, which included a Capstone project and presentation. Her capstone, which focused on health literacy rates among patients at the LSU School of Dentistry Student Clinic, was based on a $3,000 outreach award from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, South Central Region entitled “Outreach to the LSUHSC-NO School of Dentistry Clinic: Providing Quality Consumer Health Information to Dental Patients”. Ms. Schiavo was awarded the grant in 2009.
Ms. Schiavo's research project was entitled: "Health Literacy in the Dental Clinic - Are patient's needs being met?"
