Criteria for Inclusion of Websites on "Links" Page
The LSUHSC Library's "Links" page is a selected list of authoritative sources available on the World Wide Web. It is not intended as a comprehensive list, but as a starting point for our patrons. The following is a list of criteria used by the Reference Librarians when selecting websites for inclusion.
- Source (author/owner) is authoritative, accurate and clearly indicated.
- Information is current with update dates clearly indicated.
- Site provides quality, reliable, objective information.
- Site should be user friendly, easily navigated with an intuitive design.
- Site should be consistently available.
- The content of the site should not be overwhelmingly commercial.
- Content should be appropriate to the LSUHSC Library patron.
- Content is freely available and does not require user to supply personal data.
- Content should offer unique information or perspective.
- Browser requirements, along with necessary plug-ins, should be listed on the main page.
