The Public Library of Science (PLoS) is a non-profit organization of scientists and physicians committed to making the world's scientific and medical literature a freely available public resource.
PLoS normally covers the costs of publishing by levying a processing charge of between $2000-3000 for each article published. Among the benefits of LSUHSC Library's institutional membership is qualification for all researchers at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans to only be charged half of that amount.

Available to the general public.
Sponsored membership is through a consortial agreement with SCAMeL (South Central Academic Medical Libraries).
