Academic Performance Resources in LSUHSC-NO (APRIL) APRIL provides
an umbrella of academic support services for all students at LSUHSC-NO. The
APRIL Brochure for Students describes
these services.
Campus Assistance Program
(CAP)
A crisis line with a CAP counselor available 24 hours a day. CAP
additionally offers free brief counseling to students and their family
members, as well as social service information and referral.

Campus Police
The campus police are here to help you. Please be reminded, that no question
is a dumb question, especially when it comes to safety and security. The
Chief is available to consult with you about any potential problem.
Additionally, they have police officers that have been trained specifically
to deal with individuals who have been victims of crime and rape.

Community and Minority Health Education (CMHE)
The Office of Minority Affairs retention goal is attained by providing both
academic and personal support services that facilitate successful progress
and graduation from medical school. For more information contact

Drug Testing Program
The Drug Testing Program offers confidential urine and breath alcohol
testing to the LSUHSC community.

Peer Advocate Liaison Program (PAL)
The Peer Advocate Liaison Program (PAL) helps students access resources when
they are experiencing personal or academic difficulties. PALs are classmates
who have been educated about available on- and off-campus resources, and
they can assist their peers in contacting these resources. If you are
having academic problems or problems with depression, alcohol, drugs, or
relationships and want to learn more about available resources contact your
student PAL representative. A list of these representatives is available in
the PAL's Handbook.

Student Health Clinic
The Student Health Clinic provides information about student health
insurance and preventive health care including health immunizations, health
