The LSU Health Sciences Center New
Orleans Faculty Wives Club was founded in 1965 to promote social and
cultural interchange and to support the special needs of the LSU Health Sciences
Center New Orleans through contributions. One of the special needs we
have supported over the years is the LSU Health Sciences Center Health
Care Services Division Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans Charity
Hospital Nursery. Each year our members donate clothing, blankets, and
other newborn supplies in addition to cash.
Additionally, through the work of our Special Projects Committee, The New
Orleans Faculty Wives Club awards grants to various departments who have
submitted specific requests. In the recent past our grant recipients have
included the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Nursing and
LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Dentistry, as well as
the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Allied Health
Profession, LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Allied
Health Professions Department of Physical Therapy, the LSU Health
Sciences Center New Orleans School of Medicine Radiology and OB/GYN.
On the social side of things, our members meet monthly for lunch and
programs. Past programs have included: a tour of the Governor’s Mansion
with Alice Foster, a visit to the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and a
tour of the Louisiana swampland with our spouses.
Please take a minute to review this year’s program schedule. We
hope you will find something of interest. We hope this brief history of
The LSUHSC New Orleans Faculty Wives Club will entice you to join or
renew your membership. Most importantly, however, we would like to convey
that the real pleasure derived in belonging to this unique group of women
is the warm camaraderie we share with one another. We look forward to
seeing you at the NEXT event.
