The 1998 reauthorization of the Higher Education Act requires all postsecondary institutions to make a good-faith effort to distribute voter registration forms to each degree- or certificate-seeking student who attends classes on their campus. At LSU Health Sciences Center, these forms are provided by the state and are available in the Office of the Registrar, Resource Center Building room 401C.

Louisiana residents can download the Louisiana voter registration form from the Secretary of State’s office and return the completed form to their local Registrar of Voters office. Louisiana statutes require individuals to be registered 30 days prior to an election to be eligible to vote in that particular election.

Students residing outside of Louisiana who wish to register to vote in their home state may do so by completing the National Voter Registration Form provided by the United States Election Assistance Commission.  Most states require that you register in advance of the election by as much as thirty five days.
