The successful candidates will be expected to teach biostatistics courses to majors and non-majors, advise biostatistics PhD/MS/MPH students, and contribute to the mission of the University and statistical profession. Candidates are expected to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program and actively participate in collaborative research.

  • PhD in Biostatistics/Statistics or expected by July 2018

All areas of research in Statistics/Biostatistics will be considered.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with potential for or demonstrated record in development of statistical methodology and teaching experience
  • Biomedical/public health statistical consulting experience     
  • Experience or expertise in:
    • Developing novel statistical methodologies
    • Statistical inferences, Generalized linear (mixed-effects) modeling, and Time Series Analysis
    • Computational algorithms for the analysis of Big Data in biomedical/public health research, including large scale, complex social network and electronic medical record data for evaluation of public health risks/interventions or high throughput sequencing data, neuro-imaging, and real-time physiologic data

There are two positions available. The positions will remain open until filled and the review of applications will begin on October 15, 2017. 

The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans (LSUHSC-N.O.) is located within the biomedical district of New Orleans. It consists of six professional schools and twelve Centers of Excellence. The School of Public Health (SPH) provides five Master’s level and three PhD level programs in addition to its numerous research and service programs in order to advance the public’s health and well-being through education, research, and service, with a focus on issues affecting Louisiana. The SPH is also CEPH accredited and maintains a diverse research portfolio with a tradition of funding from NIH, CDC, and a variety of other state and federal agencies and private institutions.

The Biostatistics Program faculty have extensive research collaborations with other departments and research centers throughout the Health Sciences Center. We offer a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biostatistics and a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Biostatistics. Visit to learn more about us.
