Anatomy faculty positions, non-tenure track.  

The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is seeking to hire two full-time academic faculty members (rank to be determined upon hiring) on the non-tenure track who can contribute to the departmental teaching mission in a team-oriented environment. One of these positions will be given to a candidate who would be able to be hired at a more senior level, due to his/her academic history.

 

Each candidate for these positions must have experience in the teaching of both gross anatomy with cadaveric dissection and histology, preferably in an environment of a health science center, as well as expertise in the instruction of future health care professionals in both small and large group teaching settings.  Teaching duties may be assigned within the multiple health professional schools of the LSU Health Sciences Center (Medicine, Dentistry, Allied Health, Nursing and Graduate).  Each prospective faculty member will also be expected to participate in scholarly research in the areas of education, clinical sciences and/or basic sciences.

  • A terminal degree in a relevant field (PhD or MD or a combined degree)
  • Experience in teaching human gross anatomy and histology using active learning technologies and innovative pedagogical methods of instruction.  In both courses facility in lecturing is required as well as skill in teaching laboratory dissection in gross anatomy.
  • Ability to relate the teaching of human gross anatomy and histology to clinical applications
  • Ability to work in a team-teaching environment
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as written and oral communication abilities/skills
