The Department of Pathology at LSU Health, School of Medicine in New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO), LA is seeking a senior rank full-time faculty member with expertise in Surgical Pathology who will participate in the Anatomic Pathology service at our major clinical affiliate, University Medical Center in New Orleans (UMC).  Diagnostic expertise in gastrointestinal pathology or breast pathology is particularly desirable. 

UMC is a 424 bed state-of-the-art academic hospital that opened in August of 2015 and is experiencing growth in all services, including surgical pathology. The Pathology Laboratory occupies over 40,000 sq. ft. in the Diagnostic and Treatment Tower.  As a senior faculty member, duties will include participation in the administration of the Surgical Pathology service and supervision of histotechnologists as required, participation in the diagnostic service, teaching of residents and fellows, and the establishment of collaborative projects of translational research in areas of interest. LSUHSC-NO and UMC are members of the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium (LCRC) and ample opportunities for collaborative, clinically relevant research exist.   

  • MD (or equivalent)/PhD 
  • Must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology and/or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology
  • Qualify for academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor; however, exceptionally qualified candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor will also be considered
  • Qualify for a full licensure to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana
