The Department of Pathology at LSU Health, School of Medicine, in New Orleans (LSU-NO), LA is seeking a full-time autopsy pathologist. The successful candidate will join our anatomic pathology service which supports the clinical and academic missions of our major clinical affiliate of LSU Health-NO, University Medical Center in New Orleans (UMC). 

UMC is a 424 bed state-of-the-art academic hospital that opened in August of 2015 and is experiencing growth in all services including autopsy services. The Pathology Laboratory occupies over 40,000 sq. ft. in the Diagnostic and Treatment Tower.  As an autopsy pathologist, duties will include performance of adult autopsies, teaching of residents and fellows, and the establishment of collaborative projects of translational research in areas of interest.   LSU Health-NO and UMC are members of the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium (LCRC) and ample opportunities for collaborative, clinically relevant research exist. 

Candidates should qualify for academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (on a non-tenure, clinical track).  

  • Must possess MD (or equivalent), MD (or equivalent)/PhD and must be board eligible/certified in Anatomic Pathology (AP)
  • Must qualify for a full licensure to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana
  • Interest in forensic pathology
