LSUHSC-NO Retiree Annual Enrollment Information

LSU's Annual Enrollment is being held from October 1, 2019, through November 15, 2019.  During this time, you are able to change health plans for an effective date of January 1, 2020. If you wish to remain in the same health plan for 2020, you do not have to submit a form.  Please carefully note the Annual Enrollment dates below.

November 15, 2019

Annual Enrollment Ends for all Health Plans and Voluntary Benefits

Effective date for any changes made during Annual Enrollment

 

Medicare Part A and Part B

All retirees and retiree spouses who are eligible for no-cost Medicare Part A MUST enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B and submit proof of enrollment to LSU. Those who are not eligible for no-cost Medicare Part A must provide proof of ineligibility to LSU. 

In addition, any retiree or retiree spouse on an OGB plan with both Medicare Part A and Part B will have a reduced premium.  If you have not provided LSU with proof of coverage in both Medicare Part A and Part B, please submit a copy of your Medicare card to your LSU Human Resources department in order for your monthly premiums to be adjusted accordingly. 

Health Plans available for the 2020 plan year include:

  • LSU First Plan, Option 1 administered by WebTPA (Non-Medicare eligible retirees only)
  • Pelican HRA 1000 administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Magnolia Local administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Magnolia Local Plus administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Magnolia Open Access administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Vantage Medical Home HMO plan administered by Vantage
  • Additional Medicare Advantage plans through the Office of Group Benefits

     

Medicare Advantage Plans available for the 2020 plan year include:

Retirees (and their covered dependents) with Medicare Part A and Part B have additional health plan choices.

  • LSU First Medicare Retiree Plan administered by UnitedHealthcare
  • Blue Advantage
  • Humana
  • Peoples Health
  • Vantage Health (Vantage Premium HMO-POS; Vantage Standard HMO-POS; Vantage Basic HMO-POS)

 

Please note that your eligibility to enroll in each of these health plans may vary depending on whether or not you and your covered dependents are enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B.

 

Changes to the Health Insurance Plans Effective January 1, 2020

 

The Office of Group Benefits (OGB) Health Plans

The Office of Group Benefits Health Plans will have a 5% premium increase for all OGB Health Plans for 2020.  It is recommended that you visit annualenrollment.groupbenefits.org to view 2020 plan information, attend an OGB meeting* (schedule included) or call 1-800-272-8451 for information on all OGB plans.

* NOTE: LSU First plansWILL NOTbe discussed at OGB Meetings. Please attend an LSU First meeting for more information on the LSU First plans. The LSU First Meeting Schedule is also included.

 

LSU First Health Plan

LSU First Choice Providers and generic medications will continue to be covered 100% after your HRA is exhausted. There will be a 5% premium increase for 2020. For more information, you can visit www.lsu.edu/lsufirst.

 

LSU First Medicare Retiree Plan

The LSU First Medicare Retiree plan will have a premium increase for 2020. Please note that if you or any of your covered dependents are not enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B, you are not eligible for this plan. For more information, you can visit www.uhcretiree.com/lsufirst.

 

Voluntary Benefits

Please note that if you are not a current participant in the UnitedHealthcare Dental and/or Vision insurance plans you are NOT able to enroll during Annual Enrollment.  Dependent children age 26 or older who have not been deemed a disable dependent by UnitedHealthcare are NOT eligible for coverage on your Dental and/or Vision insurance plans. Please review your premiums for each benefit to ensure that you are not paying for coverage for dependent children who are ineligible. If you have questions or need to remove an ineligible dependent, please contact your LSU Human Resources department as soon as possible.

 

Dental Insurance administered by UnitedHealthcare

There will be no premium changes for 2020. Dental plan design changes include:

  • Basic: The Basic plan will switch from a Fee Schedule to a coinsurance model. Preventive and Diagnostic services will continue to be covered at 100%, Basic services will be covered at 45%, and Major services will be covered at 20%. The Annual Maximum will change from $1,500 to $1,000.  
  • Enhanced: The Enhanced Plan will have an annual deductible of $50 per person, up to $150 per family. The deductible will not apply to preventive and diagnostic services.

    To find an in-network provider, please visit www.myuhcdental.com and select the National PPO 20 option. You can add or delete dependents or switch between the Basic and Enhanced plans during annual enrollment. No action is required if you wish to continue your current coverage.                                                                

    Vision Insurance administered by UnitedHealthcare

    There will be no plan design or premium changes for 2020. You can add or delete dependents during annual enrollment. No action is required if you wish to continue your current coverage.

     

    Life Insurance underwritten by Prudential

    Retirees between the ages of 41-65 will experience a premium increase. Any retirees who moves age bands will also experience a premium increase. No action is required if you wish to continue your current coverage.

    Stand-Alone Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) administered by UnitedHealthcare

    There will be no plan design or premium changes for 2020. No action is required if you wish to continue your current coverage.

     

    Identity Theft Protection administered by IdentityForce

    LSU continues to partner with IdentityForce, a trusted and award-winning company that offers identity protection services. There are two options:

    Long Term Care administered by UNUM

    There will be no plan design or premium changes for 2020. No action is required if you wish to continue your current coverage.

     

Reminder: The deadline to make any Annual Enrollment changes is November 15, 2019. Changes submitted will be effective January 1, 2020. Please submit all change forms  to the Benefits area of LSUHSC-NO (nohrmbenefits@lsuhsc.edu).to LSU. Submitting information directly to OGB may delay processing and result in incorrect insurance deductions.
