NOTICE:  On Wednesday, August 19th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the fire alarm will be tested in both the Dental School Administration Building and the Clinic Building .  The fire alarm contractor will announce the testing to let any building occupants know that the alarms are only tests and that it will not be necessary to evacuate the building during these tests.  The contractor will then activate fire alarm devices in the recently renovated auditoriums.  This will activate the fire alarm strobes and audible alarms in both buildings.  When the testing is concluded, an announcement will be made so that all occupants will know that the testing is complete.

 

NOTICE:  The Medical Education Building Air Handling Unit Replacement project continues.  The next two air handling units to be replaced serve the Bolivar Street/Perdido Street corner of the 4th and 5th floors.  Installation of these units will start at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 21st, and be completed by September 4th.  In order to remove the old units and install the new units, the contractor will erect a crane on Bolivar Street at the intersection with Perdido Street.  Subsequently, Bolivar Street will be closed from the intersection with Perdido Street to the MEB loading dock from 9:00 AM on Friday, August 21st, until 9:00 PM on Sunday, August 23rd.  The sidewalk along Bolivar Street adjacent to the MEB will also be closed to pedestrian traffic.  This is required to protect pedestrians from any falling objects while work is being preformed overhead.  

 

Temporary air conditioning for the 4th and 5th floor quadrant D ( Bolivar Street/Perdido Street corner) will be installed this week.  As part of the temporary air conditioning set-up, Facility Services will be connecting duct work to discharge the rejected heat into the hallways or exhaust ducts.  Only a minimum number of ceiling tiles in labs will be removed or disturbed during this process.  Power cables from the temporary power panels to the temporary air conditioning units will be installed and condensate drain lines will be connected to sinks and/or floor drains.  

 

Please note that the exhaust will be operating normally, which means that all fume hoods will operate normally.  Air handling units on the roof will be providing conditioned air into the labs (as they normally do) and this will help to cool the lab spaces.  Additionally, the other three quadrants on these two floors, as well as the rest of the building, will have normally functioning air conditioning.   

 

During the two week construction period, should there be any issue with the air conditioning in your space, please call 568-7715 or 568-7716, and provide your name, contact information, room number and description of the problem.  Occupants should not attempt to adjust the temporary units on their own.

 

1542 TULANE AVE. :

  • The plumbing contractor made final connections for the coffee maker and espresso machine for the 1st Floor coffee kiosk. 
  • The electrical contractor installed the electrical outlets for the espresso machine, coffee maker, ice machine, bakery case, and air curtain.

 

DENTAL SCHOOL AUDITORIUMS A & B RENOVATIONS: 

  • The mechanical contractor programmed the sequencing for the 2nd Liebert unit in the A/V Room. 
  • The electrical contractor certified the additional network cables installed in Auditoriums A and B. 
  • LSUHSC IT set-up and programmed additional components of the access grid in the A/V Room.

 

LANDSCAPING:

  • Facility Services completed planting sod and shrubs on the Tulane Avenue side of the Roman Street Garage. 

 

MEB AIR HANDLING UNIT REPLACEMENT:

  • Facility Services continued relocating the temporary A/C units to the 4th and 5th floor Quadrant D (corner of Bolivar Street and Perdido Street ). 
  • The contractor continued testing and balancing air handling units 6-A and 7-A.

 

MEB 2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:

  • The wall panel contractor installed one set of the metal wall panels.   

 

RESIDENCE HALL 2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:  

  • The contractor installed corner guards throughout the 2nd Floor lobby. 
  • Crews installed mini blinds in the recreation room. 
  • They installed metal screen on the security desk.
