LSU Health Recognized as ACS Outstanding Partner

The American Cancer Society (ACS) in Louisiana honored LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health at its Annual Recognition Luncheon on January 24, 2020 in Baton Rouge. LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health's Louisiana Cancer Control Programs were among only a handful of programs and organizations that received ACS' "Outstanding Cancer Control Partner" Award.

Funded by about $24 million in grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the LSU Health New Orleans Louisiana Cancer Prevention and Control Programs represent a series of programs, projects and studies to “eliminate suffering and death in Louisiana by focusing on cancers that can be prevented or detected early and cured.”

The programs include the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Health Program, Gulf States Young Breast Cancer Survivor Network/SurviveDAT, Louisiana Colorectal Cancer Roundtable and Louisiana Colorectal Health Project, as well as HPV studies, state partnerships and survivorship plans.
