LSU Health’s Cohen-Rosenblum 1st Female British Hip Society Traveling Fellow

Anna Cohen-Rosenblum, MD, MSc, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine, is the first female to be awarded the prestigious The Hip Society-British Hip Society Traveling Fellowship. One of only two recipients, Dr. Cohen-Rosenblum and a colleague from the Mayo Clinic will spend about a month visiting centers in the United Kingdom hosted by world-renowned experts in adult hip reconstruction.

The fellowship includes opportunities for scientific exchange, operating room observations, close interaction with faculty, as well as social and cultural events. Fellows are exposed to different approaches and techniques, and the reasoning for clinical decisions from colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Applicants must be board-certified or board-eligible practicing orthopaedic surgeons who perform hip replacements and are within one to five years of completing their training. They must demonstrate their commitment to advancing hip surgery via publications, presentations and research.

Dr. Cohen-Rosenblum specializes in performing hip and knee replacements for arthritis and complex deformities, as well as revision hip and knee replacements. She received her undergraduate degree in classical archaeology at Harvard College and furthered her pursuit of archaeology with a master's degree in skeletal and dental bio-archaeology at University College London. She then obtained her medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Chicago, followed by a fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the University of Virginia. She is active in the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) Young Arthroplasty Group and Women in Arthroplasty Committees, as well as the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS), and is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Arthroplasty and Arthroplasty Today.

Alumni of this fellowship include surgeons from Stanford University, the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Washington University.
