POSITION SUMMARY:
Immunology and Cardiovascular laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at LSU Health Science Center Shreveport is seeking a postdoctoral scholar. The successful candidate will join an NIH-funded project (PI, Dr. Matthew Woolard) to investigate the role of macrophage-associated lipin-1 activity during inflammation resolution. The project involves but is not limited to studying macrophage biology, inflammation resolution, immune responses, assessment of mitochondria function, and atherosclerosis resolution. The project uses cultured cells, mouse models, flow cytometry, and metabolomics. Having recent lab experience, in cell culture, immunology, and handling of rodents is required. The job involves designing and conducting research projects, presenting at national/international conferences, and writing manuscripts. The PI will closely work with the successful candidate for training in all of these aspects, and the candidate will be encouraged to apply for independent postdoctoral fellowship grants. Salary will adhere to NIH salary guidelines.
